Advanced Renamer earns its place in the Superhive library for turning object renaming into a controllable, repeatable step. The click-based order selection and dual preset system stand out for anyone juggling consistent naming across scenes and projects. A demo video is available for a closer look.
Advanced Renamer is a Blender addon built to simplify renaming multiple objects in a scene, giving control over naming order, flexible naming formats, and a preset system. It works in Object Mode, where you set the renaming sequence by clicking objects one by one in the viewport, finishing with the Right Mouse Button or Enter and cancelling with Esc.
The addon offers three rename modes. Standard Rename builds structured names from a base name, prefix and suffix, a numbering system, an alphabet suffix, and a custom separator. Find and Replace swaps specific text within object names, while Insert Text adds custom text at a chosen position. Formatting controls handle uppercase conversion, replacing spaces with underscores, number padding, and custom start values.
Its preset system saves rename configurations as scene presets stored in the current project or global presets stored in Blender's user configuration directory, and you can save, load, or delete them. The panel sits in the 3D Viewport Sidebar under the Rename tab. Listed use cases include organizing scene hierarchy, preparing game assets, cleaning up imported models, and batch renaming large scenes.
Advanced Renamer is best for blender artists organizing scene hierarchy, preparing game assets, cleaning up imported models, managing animation or simulation objects, and batch renaming large scenes.
Advanced Renamer is completely free to download and use.
Advanced Renamer lists compatibility with Blender versions 4.0 through 5.1. The addon works in Object Mode within the 3D Viewport, and its panel appears in the Sidebar under the Rename tab. It is associated with scenes using the Cycles and Eevee render engines, and is distributed under the GPL license. If you are on a Blender release outside that stated range, check the developer's page for the latest compatibility details before installing, since supported versions can change with updates.
Advanced Renamer installs through Blender's standard add-on process. Open Blender, go to Preferences, then Add-ons, and choose Install. Select the .zip file and enable the addon. Once active, open the Sidebar in the 3D Viewport by pressing N, then switch to the Rename tab to reach the panel. From there you select objects, click Start Picking Order to set the renaming sequence, configure your settings, and press Apply Renaming to run the rename.
Advanced Renamer works only in Object Mode. You define the renaming order by clicking objects one by one in the viewport, using the Right Mouse Button or Enter to finish the selection and Esc to cancel. Note that the click order resets whenever you restart the tool, so you set the sequence fresh each time. This click-based approach gives precise control over how numbering is applied across the objects you select.
Advanced Renamer includes a preset system for saving and loading rename configurations. Scene presets are stored inside the current Blender project, which suits project-specific naming setups. Global presets are stored in Blender's user configuration directory and are available across all projects. You can save current settings as a preset, load saved presets, and delete unused ones. Because global presets live outside the Blender project, they persist independently of any single file.
Advanced Renamer is listed as free here in our catalog. Licensing and availability can change over time, so check the developer's page for the current terms before you rely on it. The addon is distributed under the GPL license. For capabilities, it covers click-based renaming order, standard rename, find and replace, insert text, formatting controls, and a preset system, all reached from the Rename tab in the 3D Viewport sidebar.
