A niche add-on that addresses a specific gap: Blender's default resolution fields can't be keyframed, and Anicam makes them animatable.
Anicam adds an "AniCam" panel to Blender's N panel in the 3D Viewport, containing fields similar to the "Resolution X" and "Resolution Y" fields found in the Output Properties – Dimensions tab. These fields are automatically synchronized with Blender's basic resolution settings. While the default resolution fields cannot be animated, the fields in the AniCam panel can be, using the "i" keycode above the required field. The resulting animation curve appears in the Graph Editor and Nonlinear Animation windows.
With this in place, you can render images at the required resolution at any point on the timeline. Resolution can also be managed through timeline markers: add a marker, set a render resolution to it in the AniCam panel, and the render resolution changes as the cursor crosses that marker.
Blender does not support changing camera resolution with the default animation rendering via Ctrl + F12, so the panel provides a "Render Sequence" button to render the frame sequence instead. Note that in Blender 3.x, rendering with the Render Sequence option does not show the render result in the viewport area due to viewport and rendering synchronization issues.
Anicam is best for blender users who need to change or animate render output resolution across a timeline.
Anicam is completely free to download and use.
Anicam supports Blender versions 2.83, 2.93 and 3.3. Note that when rendering with the "Render Sequence" option in Blender 3.x, the render result does not display in the viewport area, which the developer attributes to viewport and rendering synchronization issues in Blender 3.x. If you rely on animated resolution changes, check that your Blender version matches one of the listed releases before installing. The current add-on version is 1.2.1.
Anicam lets you animate resolution using the standard Blender workflow: hover over the required field in the AniCam panel and press the "i" keycode to insert a keyframe. The animation curve then appears in the Graph Editor and Nonlinear Animation windows. Blender's basic resolution fields cannot be animated directly, so the AniCam panel provides equivalent fields that can. Once keyframed, you can render images at the required resolution at any point on the timeline.
Anicam works around a Blender limitation: the default animation rendering with Ctrl + F12 does not support changing camera resolution. Instead, use the "Render Sequence" button on the AniCam panel to render the frame sequence, which respects the animated resolution values. Be aware that in Blender 3.x this method does not show the render result in the viewport area due to synchronization issues between the 3D viewport and rendering.
Anicam is installed like a standard Blender add-on. Download the *.zip archive containing the add-on distributive, then open Blender's Preferences window, go to the Add-ons section, click Install, and specify the downloaded archive. Once enabled, the add-on appears in the 3D Viewport window under the N panel in the "AniCam" tab, where you can access its resolution fields and the Render Sequence button.
Anicam is listed as free in this catalog. The add-on is distributed under the GPL license. For current licensing terms, pricing and the latest download, refer to the developer's page. The add-on is published by Nikita Akimov, and a demo video is also available to preview its functionality before installing.
