A practical Blender addon for animators who reuse clips like blinking or smiling across projects, combining export, browsing, and bone-aware import in the N-Panel.
Animation Library Export & Import Clips, developed by Zekeriya AYAN, is a Blender addon for managing a centralized library of animation actions. You can export a selected object's or rig's action into a dedicated library folder with one click, and each animation is stored as a standalone .blend file containing both the action and an empty object for reference. The library folder also holds mp4 preview videos and JSON data for bone selection sets.
The addon integrates into the View3D sidebar under the Animation tab in an "Anim Lib" category, where you can browse your entire collection without leaving the viewport and refresh the view to see newly added files. Importing applies the selected library action to your active rig or object, with data validation that checks for the necessary animation data structures beforehand. It is optimized for rigs in Pose Mode so bones are correctly targeted.
A built-in bone mirroring system supports flipping bone names such as .L to .R, _L to _R, and Left to Right, with path remapping for symmetrical rigs. You can create bone sets with a save selection set feature and use Filter by Set to choose which bone set an animation is pasted into.
Animation Library Export & Import Clips is best for blender animators managing reusable object and bone animation clips, particularly those working on cartoon series who retrieve pre-recorded animations from an archive.
Animation Library Export & Import Clips is completely free to download and use.
Animation Library Export & Import Clips supports Blender 3.6.0 up to 5.0.0, and is optimized for 5.0 and later. It uses .blend file instances for each animation to preserve all keyframe data. Each stored animation is a standalone .blend containing the action and an empty object for reference, so the library keeps data intact across versions within that supported range. Check the developer's page for the latest details before installing on a specific build.
Animation Library Export & Import Clips installs as a zip file through Blender's add-on preferences. Open Blender, go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons, install the zip file, then search for "Animation Library Export & Import Clips" and check the box to enable it. The addon can also be placed in the Blender addons directory for your platform. Once enabled, it appears in the View3D sidebar under the Animation tab in the "Anim Lib" category.
Animation Library Export & Import Clips is optimized for rigs in Pose Mode so that all bones are correctly targeted during import. To import, select the target rig, enter Pose Mode, choose an animation from the library list, and click Paste to apply it to your character. Before importing, the addon validates that the target object has the necessary animation data structures, helping avoid applying clips to objects that cannot receive them.
Animation Library Export & Import Clips is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing terms and any conditions of use, refer to the developer's page. A demo video is also available if you want to see more about the addon before installing it. The addon is developed by Zekeriya AYAN under za studio and integrates directly into the Blender interface via the N-Panel.
