Why we like it

Animer stands out in the Superhive library for pulling action switching, frame ranges and animation tools into a single Blender sidebar.

What is Animer?

Animer is a Blender add-on by Ken Hes that centralizes action management inside a sidebar. Actions appear as large buttons you can click to switch between them, and switching an action automatically defines the playback frame range and sets Pose mode, so you can start animating right away. A search field helps locate actions as your list grows.

The sidebar also gathers tools that would otherwise be spread across the interface. An edit actions toggle shows or hides action tools including fake user, rename, duplicate and delete. A dedicated button adds a new action with a keyframe at frame 0, and frame rate options, playback controls and an autokey button sit together in one place. Commonly used commands such as Discontinuity, Clean Keys and Smooth Keys are included, along with an indicator showing the action you're currently working on.

Animer is compatible with Blender versions 4.4, 4.3 and 4.2, is Blender Extension compatible, and is released under the GPL license. A demo video is available for a closer look at the add-on.

Who is Animer best for?

Animer is best for blender animators managing multiple action files who want action switching, framing and tools collected in one sidebar.

How much does Animer cost?

Frequently asked questions

Which Blender versions does Animer support?

Animer is compatible with Blender versions 4.4, 4.3 and 4.2. It is listed as Blender Extension compatible and is provided as an add-on, so it installs into a supported Blender build. If you are running a different version, check the developer's page to confirm compatibility before installing, since only the listed versions are stated as supported for this release.

What happens when I switch actions in Animer?

Animer lists your actions as large sidebar buttons, and clicking one switches to that action. When switching, Animer automatically defines the playback frame range and sets Pose mode, so you are ready to start animating immediately. A search field helps you find actions, and an indicator shows which action you are currently working on. This removes the need to manually adjust start and end frames for each action file.

What license is Animer released under?

Animer is released under the GPL license. It is also listed as a Dev Fund Contributor and is available as a Blender add-on that is Blender Extension compatible. In this catalog the add-on is listed as free, so for current licensing terms and any pricing details, refer to the developer's page before downloading to confirm the conditions that apply to your use.

Are characters and animations included with Animer?

Animer does not include characters or animations. The characters and animations shown are approved for use and come from the indie game Vending Dokan! Kozy Kiosk by Aftabi Games, which is available to wishlist on Steam. The add-on itself provides the sidebar and action management tools, so you supply your own actions and rigs when working with it inside Blender.
