Auto Painter Ai is an AI texture add-on for Blender from Blender Procedural. It generates textures on your 3D models by pairing text prompts with Stable Diffusion WebUI and the ControlNet extension. The add-on can run its AI models locally or connect to external services, depending on your settings.
The workflow centers on multiview maps. With a model selected in Blender, Generate Multiview Maps bakes depth and normal maps using ControlNet. You then enter a texture prompt and use Generate Guided AI Image to send those maps and the prompt to the AI server for generation. Connection is set through a Connection Type dropdown, where you choose Local WebUI and enter the server address.
Local processing relies on Stability Matrix, a one-click installer that sets up Stable Diffusion WebUI, ControlNet, and the Depth and Normal models it needs. Auto Painter Ai uses ControlNet Depth and Normal models, specifically control_sd15_depth.pth and control_sd15_normal.pth. Stability Matrix can download these automatically from its Models tab and place them in the ControlNet models folder for Stable Diffusion WebUI. These maps are what the add-on produces when you run Generate Multiview Maps on a selected 3D model, and they guide the AI when you send a prompt through Generate Guided AI Image. Without them, the guided texture generation cannot run.
