Earns its place in the scriptspot library for its non-destructive approach to batch exporting, merging helper-parented meshes into single objects while keeping instances intact.
Batch Exporter is a script for 3ds Max, created by N00BYZOR and inspired by Jos Balcaen's Batch Export/Import. It is built for exporting a lot of objects quickly and supports multiple file formats, including OBJ, MAX and VRSCENE.
Meshes linked to a point helper or dummy can be merged and exported as a single object, taking the helper's name and pivot location while keeping instances in a non-destructive way. A "Merge All Nodes" option lets you choose whether objects parented to points or dummies are merged before exporting, and objects whose names begin with an underscore are ignored when parented to a point or dummy.
You can bind a keyboard shortcut to export the selection instead of clicking the button, and export to the folder where the current max file is located. Settings are saved in a .ini file, and a Help button opens the documentation.
Batch Exporter is best for 3ds Max artists who need to export many objects quickly and want meshes parented to helpers merged into single objects.
Batch Exporter is completely free to download and use.
Batch Exporter lists compatibility with 3ds Max 2015, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023, and the developer notes it should work in any version. Version 2.1 also fixed a bug in recent versions such as 2022 and 2023 where parts of exported meshes could go missing. If you run a version outside the listed range, the developer's documentation is the best place to confirm behaviour before relying on it in production work.
Batch Exporter merges meshes linked to a point helper or dummy and exports them as a single object, taking the helper's name and pivot location. This keeps instances in a non-destructive way. A "Merge All Nodes" option lets you choose whether objects parented to points or dummies are merged before exporting. Objects whose names begin with an underscore are ignored when parented to a point or dummy, so you can leave certain items out of the export.
Batch Exporter supports several export formats, including OBJ, MAX and VRSCENE. VRSCENE support was added in version 1.7.2 and the MAX format was added later, while version 2.0 fixed a VRSCENE export issue. A "Show Prompt" checkbox controls whether the export dialog appears before exporting, depending on the selected format. For the complete list of supported formats, the developer's documentation is the place to check.
Batch Exporter lets you bind a keyboard shortcut to export the selection instead of clicking the button each time, a feature added in version 2.0. If nothing is selected when you trigger an export, it remembers and re-exports the selection you exported previously. You can also export to the folder where the current max file is located, and settings are saved in a .ini file rather than in each max file.
Batch Exporter is listed as free in this catalog, so no price is shown here. For current licensing terms and any usage conditions, check the developer's page. The script was created by N00BYZOR, inspired by Jos Balcaen's Batch Export/Import, and it is built for exporting a lot of objects quickly. The developer welcomes feedback through email or the comment section. Documentation is available and can be opened directly from a Help button inside the tool.
