Bl2Mar earns its spot in the superhive library by wiring together four tools that texturing artists commonly juggle. It stays current, too, with the March 2025 update adding Marmoset Toolbag 5 support. Just note it is Windows only, needs Administrator rights, and does not handle UDIM.
Bl2Mar (Blender Connect Marmoset Toolbag) is a bridge between Blender and Marmoset Toolbag built around baking. It collates objects into a bake project and sends the bake meshes over to Toolbag, then lets you route the baked textures onward to Photoshop and Substance Painter, and send the finished texture project back into Blender. The addon comes in two parts: the Blender addon itself and a Toolbag plugin that installs automatically once you set the Toolbag path.
On the Blender side, it handles collection setup and auto-renames meshes as '_low' and '_high', using either center-point or bounding-box checks, with Re_Do for a single low and high pair and Re_Mul for one low with multiple high objects. You can build a bake project from a low mesh material or an ID map from a high mesh material, and export or replace bake meshes in Toolbag directly.
Bl2Mar supports the Windows platform only and asks you to run Marmoset Toolbag or Blender as Administrator. It works with Blender 3.0 and up and Marmoset Toolbag 4.04 and up, including Toolbag 5, but does not support UDIM.
Bl2Mar(Blender Connect Marmoset Toolbag) is best for blender artists who bake in Marmoset Toolbag and want to move meshes and textures between Blender, Toolbag, Photoshop and Substance Painter on Windows.
Bl2Mar(Blender Connect Marmoset Toolbag) is completely free to download and use.
Bl2Mar targets Blender 3.0 and later, and works with Marmoset Toolbag 4.04 and up, with support for Marmoset Toolbag 5.0 and 5.01 added in the March 2025 update. On the texturing side it connects with Photoshop CS and later and Substance Painter 2018 and later. One limitation to keep in mind: the addon does not support UDIM. Check the developer's page to confirm the exact versions you plan to pair before setting up the pipeline.
Bl2Mar currently supports the Windows platform only, so it will not run on macOS or Linux. The workflow depends on Windows executables for Marmoset Toolbag, Photoshop, Substance Painter and Blender, whose paths you set inside the tool. If you already work on Windows, that requirement is met; on another system you would need a Windows environment to use it. The developer's page is the best place to confirm current platform support before you commit to the setup.
Bl2Mar installs like a standard Blender addon: open Edit, then Preferences, then Add-ons, choose Install Add-on from File, select the bl2mar file and enable it. Once enabled, press N in the 3D viewport to bring up its panel. The Marmoset Toolbag side installs on its own, since setting the Toolbag executable path in Blender installs the bl2mar Toolbag plugin automatically. Note that Blender should be set to the English language for the connection to work as intended.
Bl2Mar asks you to run Marmoset Toolbag or Blender as Administrator so that Toolbag can send textures on to Substance Painter, Photoshop and Blender. Alongside this, keep Blender set to the English language, since the connection relies on it. When you create the texture project in Toolbag, use the New Project option so it transfers back to Blender correctly. These setup steps keep the round-trip between the applications working as intended.
Bl2Mar is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it to your pipeline without a purchase. Pricing and licensing can change over time, though, so it is worth checking the developer's page on superhive for the current terms before you rely on it. That page is also where you will find the documentation that ships with the addon and details on updates, including the recent Marmoset Toolbag 5 support.
