Why we like it

Stands out in the superhive library for packaging rename, weight, rock-generation, preset and material-management tools into a single Blender add-on from VFX Grace.

What is Blender Addons | Blender Box?

Blender Addons | Blender Box is a collection of utilities for Blender, developed by VFX Grace. It brings together four areas of functionality: a PieMenu with rename and weight tools, a Rocks Factory, a Material Preset library, and a Material Manager.

The PieMenu handles batch renaming of models, materials, particle systems, textures and weights, along with batch replacing names and adding or deleting prefixes and suffixes. Its Weight Tool generates weights based on slope and converts weight to vertex color and back. Object Index tools batch-check and add object indexes, toggle and remove non-displayed or non-rendered modifiers, show and hide particle systems, and select doubles. Rocks Factory creates rocks with a procedural texture, smooths their bottoms, combines selected rocks, plants rocks on surfaces and remeshes models.

The Material Preset library lets you add, modify and delete customized material and node presets, while the Material Manager finds models by texture or material, batch-edits texture paths and cleans unused images and materials. Version 2.3.8 added support for Blender 5.0, and a demo video is available.

Frequently asked questions

Does Blender Addons | Blender Box work with Blender 5.0?

Blender Addons | Blender Box added Blender 5.0 support in version 2.3.8, released on November 30, 2025. Earlier releases extended compatibility step by step: 4.5 LTS in version 2.3.7, 4.1 in version 2.3.4, 3.1 in version 2.2.1, and Blender 2.90.1, 2.90.2 and 2.91 in version 1.9.9. If you are on the current Blender 5.0 line, the latest build is the one to use. For confirmation on your exact version, check the developer's page and its changelog.

Is Blender Addons | Blender Box free to download?

Blender Addons | Blender Box is listed as free in this catalog. Because licensing terms can change over time, and this bundle groups several modules together, it is worth checking VFX Grace's own page for the current terms before you download. The developer's page is also the best place to see the documentation and the full changelog, so you know which module functions are included in the version you are installing. That way you can match the toolset to the Blender release you are working in.

How do I add materials with external images to the Materials Preset Library?

Blender Addons | Blender Box requires one manual step when a material you want to save contains external images. Before adding that material to the Materials Preset Library, create a folder named 'textures' under the current file of the preset project, then manually place the images inside it. Once the folder is in place, you can add the material to the library and reuse it. The Material Preset module also lets you freely modify, add and delete presets, as well as add node presets.

Can Blender Addons | Blender Box generate and edit rocks?

Blender Addons | Blender Box includes a Rocks Factory module that creates rocks with a procedural texture. From there it can smooth the bottom of rocks, combine the rocks you have selected, quickly plant rocks upon the surface of other rocks, and quickly remesh a model. These functions sit alongside the add-on's other modules for renaming, weights, object indexing and material management, so rock creation is one part of a broader Blender toolset. A demo video is also available for the toolset.
