Why we like it

Stands out in the Superhive library for combining sequential batch rendering with JSON-based project files that operate independently of your blend files.

What is Blender Queue?

Blender Queue is an add-on for Blender built around batch rendering and project management. It lets you add blend files to a render queue directly from the Blender interface using "Add Current Project" or "Add Blend Files", then renders queued projects and scenes sequentially. You can stop a batch render and resume where you left off without adjusting frame start values in the file.

The add-on stores project information in a separate JSON file, kept in Blender's system directory or a location you choose, so it operates independently of your blend files. A Projects Panel lets you create separate project files, each an independent JSON that can be saved to disk and reloaded later. Render settings such as samples and output format can be customized for multiple files in one place, and shortcodes support batch renaming and output path generation.

A Rendering Overview Panel shows overall progress, item-specific progress, time remaining, loading bars, and completed and pending item counts. Addon preferences let you enable or disable almost any feature to keep the UI clean. Compatibility now extends to the Octane Renderer.

Who is Blender Queue best for?

Blender Queue is best for blender users managing batch renders across multiple files and scenes who want organized project queues.

How much does Blender Queue cost?

Blender Queue is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

How does Blender Queue store project information?

Blender Queue operates independently of your blend files by keeping project data in a separate JSON file. You can store it within Blender's system directory or a location of your choosing. The Projects Panel lets you create separate project files, each an independent JSON that can be saved to your hard drive and reloaded whenever you want to continue working on that project. This separation means your queue and organization stay intact regardless of which blend files are open.

Can Blender Queue stop and resume a batch render?

Blender Queue lets you stop batch renders and resume where you left off without needing to adjust frame start values in the file. This is part of its rendering management, alongside the Rendering Overview Panel, which shows overall progress, item-specific progress, time remaining, loading bars, and counts of items completed and pending. Together these give you control over long render queues and a clear view of where each item stands during the process.

Does Blender Queue work with the Octane Renderer?

Blender Queue extended its compatibility to include the Octane Renderer, offering more rendering options for users. Beyond render engine support, the add-on gives you Project Insights for each queued project, exposing key information and controls such as render engine, samples, frame range, and output format. This lets you review and make necessary adjustments before rendering. Render settings like samples and output format can also be customized across multiple files at once.

Is Blender Queue free?

Blender Queue is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing details and any terms, check the developer's page on Superhive. Version 2.3.3 was released on January 12, 2026, and adds a Render View Layers popup for choosing which view layers to render, along with automated output path setup that supports shortcodes. OpenEXR Multilayer files are also supported, saving selected view layers into a single file sequence.
