C4D2Blender earns a place in the Superhive library for focusing on one specific job: pulling the latest Cinema 4D export into Blender with materials, modifiers and collection organization intact.
C4D2Blender is an add-on built to streamline the workflow between Cinema 4D and Blender. Its main function is to automatically detect the most recently exported scene from Cinema 4D and import it into Blender, carrying over modifiers and materials, cleaning up duplicate names such as Mesh.001 and Material.002, and organizing imports into collections. The interface presents a console-style panel with visual controls.
Recent versions expand organization and control. A collection color tag lets you assign one of eight predefined colors to an import collection for identification in the outliner, and a collection selector uses Blender's eyedropper to pick an existing collection. A viewport color option controls whether materials display their colors, and a refresh button extracts colors from each Principled BSDF material's Base Color to update the viewport.
Maintenance updates addressed import scale, giving objects a 1:1 result, and fixed a default rotation issue through corrected axis mapping. Re-importing a scene now saves an object's modifier stack and reapplies it to the new version, and hidden-object handling was corrected for consistency between Cinema 4D and Blender.
C4D2Blender is best for artists moving scenes from Cinema 4D into Blender who want modifiers, materials and collections carried over automatically.
C4D2Blender is completely free to download and use.
C4D2Blender automatically detects the most recently exported scene from Cinema 4D and imports it into Blender. During import it restores modifiers and materials, cleans up duplicate names like Mesh.001 and Material.002, and organizes the result using smart collection handling. The add-on presents these controls through a console-style panel. This automatic detection reduces manual steps compared with importing files by hand, keeping the transfer between the two applications consistent.
C4D2Blender addresses both in recent updates. A scale fix uses a global_scale of 1.0 so objects arrive at a 1:1 scale, eliminating the manual correction previously needed when imports came in at 0.01. A rotation fix configures the axis mapping (-Z, Y) during import, so objects exported from Cinema 4D with zero rotation no longer appear in Blender with a 90-degree rotation on one axis caused by differing coordinate systems. Objects retain their original coordinates and values.
C4D2Blender improves the re-import process to better preserve modifiers added in Blender. Previously, re-importing a scene lost modifiers applied to objects inside Blender. The add-on now saves an object's modifier stack before a re-import and reapplies it to the new version of the object. This lets you refresh a scene from Cinema 4D without rebuilding modifier work already done on the Blender side, supporting a more efficient back-and-forth between the two applications.
C4D2Blender is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing terms, availability and any usage conditions, check the developer's page directly, since those details can change over time. The add-on is distributed for use with Blender and focuses on transferring scenes exported from Cinema 4D. A demo video is available if you want to see the add-on before installing it into your own setup.
