Color Motion covers four distinct color tasks in one add-on and works across both Cycles and Eevee, with a broad Blender version range.
Color Motion is a Blender add-on from Animation Store built around four sections for working with color. The Color Extractor pulls all unique colors from an image into an organized list, filters duplicate or similar colors with a threshold-based system, and lets you control how many colors are extracted using the Smart Extractor operator. Selected colors can be moved to a Favorites list for use across different windows.
In the Shader editor, the Color Motion section applies extracted colors to Color Ramp nodes with Add, Insert, or Replace options. It shifts colors automatically using five transition effects, or manually with six customizable transitions, and can apply those transitions to multiple Color Ramp nodes across different objects with individual speed control. The Color Apply section works in the viewport to apply colors to single or multiple objects and faces, combine colors, apply random favorites, and clean materials with three cleanup options.
A fourth section, Adobe-Style Color, supports RGB and CMYK color models for color matching between Blender assets and Adobe tools. The add-on works with Cycles and Eevee.
Color Motion is best for blender artists organizing extracted image colors and animating Color Ramp transitions, including those working with Adobe print or digital workflows.
Color Motion is completely free to download and use.
Color Motion supports Blender versions 3.0 through 5.1, giving it a wide compatibility range across older and newer releases. It is a Blender add-on and is listed as Blender Extension compatible. It works with both the Cycles and Eevee render engines, so you can use its color extraction and Color Ramp animation features in either engine. Check the developer's page for the latest details on the version range and any updates.
Color Motion works with both the Cycles and Eevee render engines in Blender. Its shader-side features, such as applying extracted colors to Color Ramp nodes and shifting them with automatic or manual transitions, operate within Blender's shader editor. The viewport Color Apply section handles applying colors to objects and faces. Because it supports both engines, you can use the same color extraction and animation workflow regardless of which render engine your project uses.
Color Motion's Color Extractor works by checking and inspecting the number of pixels in an image, so the developer advises against using very large images such as 4K. Because extraction and filtering examine pixels directly, larger images increase the processing load. For best results, use more moderately sized images when extracting and filtering colors into the list. The developer's page provides further detail on how the extractor operates.
Color Motion is listed as free in this catalog. It is distributed under the GPL license and is a Dev Fund Contributor add-on. For current licensing terms, pricing, and any purchase details, check the developer's page directly, since terms can change over time. The developer also offers tutorials covering the color extractor, Color Motion, and applying color, along with a demo video, to help you get started with the add-on.
