Compositor Mask earns its place in the superhive library for turning an active collection's contents into Cryptomatte Matte IDs without manual entry.
Compositor Mask is a Blender addon by Jeslin3d that runs in the Compositor Editor and assigns Cryptomatte ID mattes based on the objects in your active collection. With the Cryptomatte node selected, the Mask Collection panel displays the active collection, which the addon uses to generate the mask. It filters out all object types except Mesh and Curve, each toggled individually with checkboxes.
Two buttons drive the workflow. Add collects all Mesh and Curve objects from the active collection, including nested children and objects from child collections, then sets their names as Matte IDs in the Cryptomatte node. Remove clears the Matte IDs for objects in the active collection while leaving objects outside it unchanged. A Recursive option extends Add to nested children or descendants of every collection inside the active collection.
Compositor Mask supports Blender versions 3.0 through 5.1 and works with the Cycles and Eevee render engines. It is released under the GPL license, and a demo video is available.
Compositor Mask is best for blender artists automating Cryptomatte ID matte assignment in the compositor from an active collection.
Compositor Mask is completely free to download and use.
Compositor Mask supports Blender versions 3.0 through 5.1, so it covers a wide span of releases. It works with both the Cycles and Eevee render engines and is released under the GPL license. The addon operates inside the Compositor Editor and expects the Cryptomatte node to be selected before you generate a mask. For current licensing and any further version details, check the developer's page.
Compositor Mask provides two main buttons: Add and Remove. Add collects all Mesh and Curve objects from the active collection, including nested children and objects from child collections, then sets their names as Matte IDs in the Cryptomatte node. Remove clears the Matte IDs for objects in the active collection, while objects outside that collection stay unchanged. This gives you a direct way to build and clear matte assignments as your scene changes.
Compositor Mask automatically filters out all object types except Mesh and Curve. These two types can be toggled individually using checkboxes, so you can decide whether meshes, curves, or both are included when generating the mask. The addon reads from the active collection shown in the Mask Collection panel and uses that collection to set Matte IDs in the selected Cryptomatte node. Other object types are excluded from the process.
Compositor Mask includes a Recursive option that extends the Add action. When enabled, Add reaches the nested children or descendants of every collection inside the active collection, so objects further down the hierarchy are included in the Matte ID assignment. Without it, Add still gathers Mesh and Curve objects from the active collection, including nested children and objects from child collections. The Recursive toggle broadens that reach across the collection structure.
Compositor Mask is listed as free here in our catalog. Pricing and licensing can change over time, so for the current terms and any purchase details, check the developer's page on superhive. The addon itself is released under the GPL license, which governs how the code can be used and shared. For the latest information, refer directly to the developer's listing.
