Conform Object earns its place in the superhive library for handling non-destructive directional projection through a single right-click, and it carries a top rating across 43 reviews.
Conform Object handles projecting one object onto another's surface in a single direction. The developer compares it to a slide projector that shines an object straight onto a surface. It reads the source object's location and orientation to automatically project it onto the target's surface, and it does this non-destructively so the underlying mesh is not affected. It projects in one direction rather than wrapping objects around a surface.
A right-click menu option performs the operation in one go. You can choose between Grid Mode and Shrinkwrap Mode, graduate the effect from the bottom to the top of an object, and transfer surface normals to blend object shading. A deformation lattice can stretch an object around another's surface, and you can conform multiple objects at once. Undo and apply options manage the modifiers being added and removed, and a presets system stores preferred settings.
Conform Object is compatible with Blender 2.9 through 5.2, is Blender Extension compatible, and is released under the GPL license. A new experimental Conform Object Modifier can be enabled via 'Go Experimental' in the add-on preferences, and a demo video is available.
Conform Object is best for 3D modelers who need to project smaller objects onto a larger object's surface in one direction, non-destructively.
Conform Object is completely free to download and use.
Conform Object supports Blender versions 2.9 through 5.2 and is listed as Blender Extension compatible. That range covers a wide span of releases, so it should fit into most modern Blender setups as an add-on. Because compatibility can shift as Blender evolves, it's worth confirming the exact version support on the developer's page before installing, especially if you're on a very new or very old release. It installs as a standard Blender add-on.
Conform Object projects objects in one direction only, which the developer likens to a slide projector shining an object straight onto a surface. It does not wrap objects around a surface. If wrapping is what you need, the developer points to two other add-ons, Flowify and Mesh Materializer, and offers to help choose the right one by email. For directional projection driven by a source object's location and orientation, Conform Object is built for that specific job.
Conform Object works non-destructively, so the underlying mesh is not affected by the operation. It manages the complexity of adding and removing modifiers for you, with undo and apply options to handle that behind the scenes. The result depends on the object's mesh topology, since the mesh needs enough vertices and faces to deform well, and on understanding how an object's location and orientation work in Blender, because the add-on uses those to project onto the target surface.
Conform Object is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing and availability can change over time, so check the developer's page for the current terms before you download. The add-on is released under the GPL license. If you have questions about which of the developer's add-ons fits your project, there is an 'Ask a Question' option and a contact email on the product page.
