Why we like it

Crazy Node earns its place in the superhive library for surfacing common node types directly in the UI and bundling a texture-focused Cp Image Node alongside the node group conversion workflow.

What is Crazy Node?

Crazy Node is a Blender add-on from CP-Design that turns default node groups into a specialized Crazy Node. It shows specific node types, TexNode, RampNode, CurveNode, and MixNode, directly in the node UI, letting you modify them outside the node group rather than opening it to edit. You can add a Crazy Node in two ways: place an empty Crazy Node and specify the node tree, or select an existing node group, right-click and choose Crazy Node from the context menu, or press F5 to convert it.

The package also includes Cp Image Node, a custom node that encapsulates commonly used texture-based node groups into a single node. A collapse button hides all node panels, and the add-on ships with English and Chinese language support.

Crazy Node runs on Blender 3.1 through 5.0 and is released under the GPL license. Blender 4.1.0 is not supported because of a known ShaderNodeCustomGroup bug, though 4.1.1 works.

Who is Crazy Node best for?

Crazy Node is best for blender artists working with node groups who want to edit TexNode, RampNode, CurveNode, and MixNode types directly in the node UI.

How much does Crazy Node cost?

Crazy Node is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

What Blender versions does Crazy Node support?

Crazy Node supports Blender 3.1 through 5.0. One exception applies: Blender 4.1.0 is not supported due to a known bug in ShaderNodeCustomGroup, while Blender 4.1.1 works fine. Version 2.0 added support for Blender 5.0. It is listed as Blender Extension compatible and installs as an add-on, so if you run a version in that range outside the 4.1.0 exception, you should be able to use it. Check the developer's page to confirm the current supported range before installing.

How do I convert an existing node group into a Crazy Node?

Crazy Node offers two ways to create a Crazy Node. You can add an empty Crazy Node to the node editor and then specify the node tree you want to use. Alternatively, select the node group you want to convert, right-click, and choose Crazy Node from the context menu, or press F5 to convert it quickly. Once converted, the specific node types, TexNode, RampNode, CurveNode, and MixNode, appear directly in the node UI so you can modify them without entering the node group.

Is Crazy Node free to use?

Crazy Node is listed as free here in our catalog. Licensing terms can change over time, so for current pricing and any purchase details it is best to check the developer's page directly. The add-on is released under the GPL license. It ships with English and Chinese language support and installs as a Blender add-on, and version 2.0 added the ability to add blurred images in the bundled Cp Image Node.

What does Cp Image Node add to Crazy Node?

Crazy Node bundles Cp Image Node, a custom node that encapsulates commonly used texture-based node groups into a single node. Version 2.0, released in December 2025, added the ability to add blurred images in Cp Image Node. The add-on also includes a collapse button to hide all node panels, a feature added in version 1.1, which also fixed an icon bug in Blender 4.3. The listed render engine is Cycles.
