Why we like it

Curve Basher stands out in the superhive library because it pairs several curve generators with a scrolling kitbash browser, and the developer notes new features are still being added.

What is Curve Basher?

Curve Basher is a Blender add-on that gathers several curve generators and kitbashing tools. You can draw Bezier curves directly on mesh surfaces, and Curvecast creates curves with auto-oriented handles when you click on a mesh surface. The Wire Generator spawns large amounts of cables, offers a Grid/Array mode, and includes a Sag option for hanging cables.

The Curvebash Browser adds kitbash to curves, and to mesh edges, by scrolling through included presets that cover sci-fi cables and chains. Mesh to Curvebash applies any mesh to a curve, turns it into an array, or uses a mesh-to-endpoints mode. Applied kitbash can be scaled, rotated, slid or twisted, and scale and rotation can be randomized across multiple curve selections. Mesh edges can also be converted to curves.

You can add your own kitbash to the preset blend file so it stays available, and save and load Wire Generator settings as operator presets. A sci-fi drone model is included. It runs on Blender 4.2 to 5.0 under a GPL license.

Who is Curve Basher best for?

Curve Basher is best for blender artists building cables, wires and curve-based kitbash such as sci-fi cables and chains.

How much does Curve Basher cost?

Curve Basher is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Does Curve Basher work with Blender 4.2 and newer?

Curve Basher lists support for Blender versions 4.2 through 5.0, so recent releases in that range are covered. It's an add-on that installs into Blender and adds curve generators and kitbashing tools, including the Wire Generator, Curvecast and the Curvebash Browser. If you're on a version outside that range, check the developer's page for the current compatibility details before installing.

Does Curve Basher come with ready-made kitbash presets?

Curve Basher includes presets such as sci-fi cables and chains, and the Curvebash Browser lets you add them to curves by scrolling through the included options. A sci-fi drone model is also included. Beyond the built-in presets, you can add your own kitbash to the preset blend file so it stays available for future use, and the browser works on mesh edges as well as curves.

How do I make hanging cables in Curve Basher?

Curve Basher handles this through the Wire Generator, which can spawn large amounts of cables at once. Enabling the Sag option makes the cables hang. The Wire Generator also has a Grid/Array mode for laying out cables, and you can add randomization to the cables. In version 1.4 you can save and load Wire Generator settings as operator presets to reuse a configuration.

What license is Curve Basher under, and is it free?

Curve Basher is released under the GPL license, and it is listed as free here in our catalog. Because licensing and terms can change over time, check the developer's page for the current details before you rely on it. The add-on is made by Armored Colony, who also lists a contact email for reporting any issues you run into. It bundles several curve generators and kitbashing tools, including the Wire Generator and Curvebash Browser.
