Deep Clean earns its place in the superhive library for giving fine control over which orphaned data gets purged, rather than clearing every data type at once.
Deep Clean is a Blender add-on that removes unnecessary orphaned data from .blend files, resulting in better speed, optimization, and lighter files. Orphaned data is any data with no users, shown with a 0 next to its name in Blender's lists. Blender keeps this data after you delete objects and nodes so it can be reassigned, but it can bloat files and slow down the viewport. Because these data blocks are interconnected, an orphaned mesh can hold orphaned materials, images, and node trees.
The add-on provides three main operations. Purge by Data Type adds a button to the Outliner header for purging a single chosen data type without harming others, with Shift-Click to purge recursive orphaned data at the first level. Purge by Name, found in File > Clean Up, purges data containing a chosen string in its name and can also target a specific data type. Purge Duplicates removes everything with ".0" in the name. A Pack/Unpack Images by Name operator in File > External Data batch packs or unpacks images based on their name.
Deep Clean is best for blender users whose .blend files are bloated with orphaned data and who want to purge only specific data without risking data they meant to keep.
Deep Clean is completely free to download and use.
Deep Clean has been tested and updated for Blender 3.6, so it runs on that release. The add-on adds a purge button to the Outliner header and extra operators to the File > Clean Up and File > External Data menus. For other Blender versions and current compatibility details, check the developer's page, since the testing noted here refers specifically to Blender 3.6. Confirming the version you run against the developer's documentation is the safest way to know it will behave as described.
Deep Clean places its tools in a few spots. Purge by Data Type adds a button to the top right of the Outliner header, letting you choose a single data type to purge. Purge by Name and Purge Duplicates live in the File > Clean Up menu. The Pack/Unpack Images by Name operator sits in File > External Data. Documentation is available for further reference on how each of these operations works.
Deep Clean offers a recursive option for both the Purge by Data Type and Purge by Name operators. For Purge by Data Type you trigger it with Shift-Click, which purges the first level of recursive orphaned data. For example, Shift-Clicking the Mesh option also purges materials, images, and node groups that have no other parent and would become orphaned. In Purge by Name, the same recursive behaviour is controlled with a simple checkbox, so you decide whether connected orphaned data is removed alongside your named selection.
Deep Clean is listed as free in this catalog. Pricing and licensing can change over time, so for current terms it's best to check the developer's page directly before downloading. The add-on itself covers purging orphaned data by type or by name, clearing duplicated data blocks, and batch packing or unpacking images by name, all from within Blender's existing menus and the Outliner header.
