Why we like it

Earns its place in the superhive library for a focused set of controls that expand and collapse objects around the 3D cursor, backed by a stored starting position you can always reset to.

What is Disperse Addon?

Disperse Addon is a Blender addon from KVD for moving selected objects away from and back to the 3D cursor in steps of a distance value you choose. Movement happens relative to each object's position around the 3D cursor along the x, y and z axes, and the starting position is stored so a single reset button returns everything at once. The step value can be changed at any time, before or during movement, and a random function moves objects a random distance within the range of the value you enter.

Objects are selected in the outliner, or when collections are present you can select those collections directly in the panel to move all their objects together. Individual objects can still be moved separately with a new distance value or with G. A split option turns an object's faces into unique objects, each with its own origin, gathered in a new collection, and a join button merges selected faces back into one object.

Together these controls let you build an exploded view from an object or model without disturbing the original positions. The addon is distributed under the GPL license and supports Blender versions from 3.0 through 4.4.

Frequently asked questions

What Blender versions does Disperse Addon support?

Disperse Addon is listed for a wide range of Blender releases: versions 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4. That coverage spans older 3.x builds through the more recent 4.x series, so it fits into most modern Blender setups. It is distributed under the GPL license. If you run a version outside this listed range, check the developer's page to confirm current compatibility before installing.

How does Disperse Addon create an exploded view?

Disperse Addon creates an exploded view using its move away and back buttons, which shift the selected objects relative to their position around the 3D cursor along the x, y and z axes in steps of the distance value you set. The starting position is stored, so a reset button returns everything to where it began at once. Because these buttons handle the movement, you can build an exploded view without messing up the original placement of the objects.

How do I move only some objects with Disperse Addon?

Disperse Addon lets you select objects in the outliner, or when collections are present, select those collections in the panel itself. A selected collection includes all of its objects so they move together with the distance value. Each object can still be moved separately with a new distance value if you want, or just with G. The split option also turns a single object's faces into unique objects, each with its own origin, stored in a new collection.

Is Disperse Addon free to use?

Disperse Addon is listed as free here in the catalog, and it is distributed under the GPL license. Prices and licensing terms can change over time, so for the most current information it's best to check the developer's page directly. There you can also review what the GPL terms allow for using and redistributing the addon. A demo video is also available if you want to see more before deciding.
