DPL - Them Bones earns its place in the Blender library for pairing armature renaming with a one-click mesh cleanup, aimed at the naming quirks that show up when importing rigs from Character Creator, AccuRig, or Mixamo.
DPL - Them Bones + Mesh Clean Up is a Blender add-on that renames the bones of any armature while following Blender's naming conventions. It was originally developed to solve persistent armature naming issues when working with characters from Character Creator, AccuRig, or Mixamo. A built-in Rig List covers several armature types, with plans to expand as new presets become available.
Bone names can be imported from the Rig List or from a file name, and a bundled snake_bone.txt file enables renaming for the provided Snake Blender file. The Mesh Cleanup side removes both vertex groups and the armature from an object in a single click, with separate Remove Armature and Remove Weights buttons. This part of the add-on stays hidden in the N-Panel unless the object includes weights or a rig.
Them Bones can be used on its own or as part of the Dynamic Pose Library Premium. The same .zip installs across Blender 2.92.x and above through 4.4, appearing in the Extensions tab on Blender 4.4.x.
Dpl - Them Bones + Mesh Clean Up is best for blender rigging workflows that need to rename armatures imported from Character Creator, AccuRig, or Mixamo and clean up vertex groups and rigs.
Dpl - Them Bones + Mesh Clean Up is completely free to download and use.
DPL - Them Bones + Mesh Clean Up works with Blender versions 2.92.x and above, up to 4.4, and the same .zip installs as an add-on across that range. In Blender 4.4.x it complies with Blender's latest add-on structure and appears in the Extensions tab rather than the traditional add-ons list. It is marked as Blender Extension compatible and works with the Cycles and Eevee render engines. Check the developer's page for the details that match your Blender setup before installing.
DPL - Them Bones + Mesh Clean Up removes both vertex groups and the armature from an object in a single click, so you no longer need to rely on auto-clickers. Remove Armature and Remove Weights are also available as separate buttons if you want to handle each one independently. The mesh cleanup portion of the add-on stays hidden in the N-Panel unless the selected object includes weights or a rig, which keeps the panel free of clutter when the tools are not needed.
DPL - Them Bones + Mesh Clean Up requires a manual step when moving from an older release. Before uninstalling a previous version, back up any custom bone renaming files you have created. You will need to remove the DPL-ThemBones-v1.0.7 version manually before installing v1.1.0. The v1.1.2 update also resolved an issue that prevented installation on Blender 4.4.x and fixed problems with importing bone names from the Rig List or from a file name.
DPL - Them Bones + Mesh Clean Up is listed as free in this catalog, and it is published under a Royalty Free license. Licensing terms can change over time, so for the most current details it is worth checking the developer's page directly before you download it or build it into a production pipeline. The add-on is also noted as a Dev Fund contributor, and it can be used as a stand-alone add-on or as part of the Dynamic Pose Library Premium.
