Easybackup earns its place in the superhive library for turning a multi-step manual backup routine into a single click, with per-file settings and free updates from a Blender Development Fund contributor.
Easybackup is an addon for Blender that handles the backup process for a project file. After setting a few parameters in each file, you can generate a backup in a different directory in one click, without changing or leaving the original file. The same action saves the backup with a specific name, packs all textures into it, adds date, time, and a custom suffix, duplicates the file if a backup with the same name exists, and can place the backup in a cloud folder such as OneDrive. A shortcut is available to speed the process up.
Backup settings are defined once per file and saved within that blend file, so each project keeps its own Easybackup configuration. The UI shows a simple, fast path or a more advanced one, and offers two methods: a Default Path using a folder set in the addon preferences, and a Custom Path that stores a project's backups in a different directory. It also reports the last time you backed up the file.
CGoutset is a Blender Development Fund contributor, with a portion of addon sales going to the Blender Foundation. The addon is fully documented and backed by active support, and free updates.
Easybackup is best for blender artists who want to back up project files quickly and keep them organized in a set folder.
Easybackup is completely free to download and use.
Easybackup offers two ways to route your backups. The Default Path method uses a default folder you set in the addon preferences, so all of your projects can send their backups to one place. The Custom Path method instead stores a project's backups in a directory different from that default folder, and you can create custom directories for individual blend files. Both methods run from the same one-click action, and the settings you choose are saved within each blend file rather than shared across every project you work on.
Easybackup can place your backup file in a cloud folder if you want, such as OneDrive. The destination is part of the settings you define per blend file, set through either the Default Path folder configured in the addon preferences or a Custom Path directory. Because you choose the directory where each backup is written, that location can be a cloud folder. As with every backup Easybackup makes, all textures are packed into the file automatically, so the copy saved to that folder includes them.
Easybackup keeps its settings on a per-file basis. Information like the file name, the directory path, and other options is defined only once for each blend file and saved within that same file, so every blend file carries its own Easybackup configuration. Once those properties are set, updating the backup takes a single button click and the addon handles the rest. This means one project's setup does not carry over to another, and you can tailor the file name, destination, and method separately for each project.
Easybackup is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing terms, check CGoutset's page, since the developer maintains the addon directly. Worth noting alongside pricing: CGoutset is a Blender Development Fund contributor, and a portion of all its addon sales goes back to the Blender Foundation. The addon also comes with an exclusive documentation page, active support for questions and bug reports, and free updates. Together these cover both the cost side and what you get in ongoing maintenance.
