A compact alternative to the larger Blender Quickbuttons V.5, this version is fully functional but ships without tooltips, a minimize option, and future updates.
The External Python Button-Bar Addon For Windows is a Windows-only, separately running standalone program that attaches to the right side of the Blender window. When you press a button, it writes a Python script you have defined into the Python Console, making Blender execute whatever you placed on that button. Because it runs outside Blender, it uses no space inside the AddOn area.
The addon ships with 4 layers of ready-to-use buttons and lets you add 5 more, for up to 9 button layers. You can redefine any button that has a number on the left, and add or delete buttons. Each button can hold separate code for the left and right mouse buttons. A 70 kb Python Library with many pre-defined procedural functions is included, along with over 50 built-in functions such as "Select Similar Size".
This is the small version of "Blender Quickbuttons". It is fully functional but will receive no further updates, and lacks tooltips, a minimize option, and the larger library of the big version. An included Desktop-Manager lets you run multiple instances of Blender on multiple real desktops, each with its own button bars.
External Python Button-Bar Addon For Windows is best for blender users on Windows who want to run their own Python scripts from a single mouse click without crowding the Blender interface.
External Python Button-Bar Addon For Windows is completely free to download and use.
The External Python Button-Bar Addon For Windows is Windows-only and does not work with other operating systems. It runs as a separately running standalone program that attaches to the right side of the Blender window, so it depends on the Windows environment. If you use macOS or Linux, this addon is not compatible with your system. The included Desktop-Manager also uses real Windows desktops rather than the virtual desktops that come with Windows 10, which further ties it to the Windows platform.
The External Python Button-Bar Addon For Windows is generally independent from the Blender version because it runs as a standalone program outside of Blender. However, the changes in the Python Library provided with the button bar make it a bit Blender version dependent. The button-bar itself hangs on to the Blender window and writes scripts into the Python Console, so the main version sensitivity comes from the library functions rather than the program that displays the buttons.
The External Python Button-Bar Addon For Windows gives you up to 9 button layers on the right side of Blender, with up to 360 buttons. It comes with 4 layers of ready-to-use buttons, and you can add 5 more layers with your own Python scripts. You can put your own Python code on each button, with separate code for the left and right mouse button, and you can redefine, add or delete any button that has a number on its left side.
The External Python Button-Bar Addon For Windows is listed as free in this catalog. The developer describes it as the small version of Blender Quickbuttons, noting it is completely functional but will not receive any updates. For current licensing details and to compare it against the larger Quickbuttons V.5 version, check the developer's page. A demo video is also available, though the button bar has been improved since it was recorded and now gives many buttons two functions.
