FlaxFlow earns its place in the superhive library by bundling optical trackers, an upgraded solver, filtering, and one-click geometry tools into Blender's motion tracking workflow.
FlaxFlow is a motion tracking and geometry toolkit that extends Blender's motion tracking panel and 3D viewport. Developed by Axel Olsson, it adds an optical flow tracking system, one-click geometry tools, a filtering system, a 3D point cloud generator, an upgraded solver, and additional tracking alternatives.
The optical trackers run faster and more stably than Blender's native tracking, with nearly all of them completing tracking each time. An enhanced camera solver produces lower solve errors more quickly, and it sorts trackers by color according to their solve error relative to the others. The filtering system can sort, delete, and refine tracks in one click, and an outlier finder ranks tracks by how far their movement deviates from the rest.
One-click geometry tools let you click anywhere in footage to read its 3D position, then connect points to build geometry such as a wall, with camera-reprojected textures for reflections and shadows on imported objects. A 3D point cloud generator builds a sparse cloud from a 2D grid you define. The UI panel reports tracker coverage and counts per frame and updates as you add, delete, or filter trackers. ST map generation and chessboard camera calibration are also included.
Flaxflow - Motion Tracking & Geometry Toolkit is best for blender artists handling motion tracking, camera solving, and match-move geometry for VFX work.
Flaxflow - Motion Tracking & Geometry Toolkit is completely free to download and use.
FlaxFlow is distributed as a Blender extension that adds its features into Blender's motion tracking panel and the 3D viewport. It brings optical trackers, automated buttons such as Apply Recommended Settings and Add Optical Trackers (Forwards & Backwards), an upgraded camera solver, filtering tools, and a 3D point cloud generator into the tracking workflow. Documentation is listed among its resources, and the developer's page covers download and setup details for the toolkit.
FlaxFlow's one-click geometry tools let you click anywhere in your footage to read its 3D position. From there you can connect points to build geometry, for example clicking along the outline of a house and joining the points to create a wall. It also supports camera-reprojected textures, which can produce reflections and shadows on imported objects. These tools sit alongside the addon's other tracking panel and 3D viewport additions.
FlaxFlow includes a 3D point cloud generator built for quick use. You enter the dimensions of the 2D grid where points should be added, then click Add 3D Geometry from Frame, and within a few seconds you get a sparse 3D point cloud. This works together with the toolkit's solver and tracking tools, which sort trackers and color them by solve error so you can spot and remove poor tracks more easily.
FlaxFlow is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it without a purchase here. Licensing terms can change over time, so it's worth checking the developer's page for the current details before you download. On the functional side, the toolkit covers optical flow tracking, an upgraded solver, filtering, one-click geometry, and a 3D point cloud generator, all working within Blender's motion tracking panel and 3D viewport.
FlaxFlow has a demo video available online. Beyond that, the addon groups its capabilities around motion tracking and geometry: optical trackers described as faster and more stable than Blender's native tracking, an enhanced camera solver with lower solve errors, automatic filtering with an outlier finder that ranks tracks by movement deviation, and one-click geometry tools. The developer's page hosts additional documentation covering the toolkit and its features.
