Why we like it

Group It! Add-On earns its place in the superhive library as a focused organisational helper for object-heavy Blender scenes, pairing two-click grouping with real-time auto resize and Cycles support.

What is Group It! Add-On?

Group It! Add-On brings object grouping to Blender through a two-click flow. Select two or more objects, press the Group button, and the add-on parents them together inside a Grouped Cube. The Ungroup button reverses this, removing the parent and deleting the bounding cube. The ungroup, duplicate, and delete group options appear only after you click the Grouped Cube.

The add-on covers the full lifecycle of a group. You can duplicate a group along with the objects inside it using the Duplicate Group button or the CTRL+SHIFT+D shortcut, and remove a group and its contents with Delete Group. Real-time Auto Resize keeps the Grouped Cube fitted to its objects as they move, and this option can be turned on or off. Lock Group and Unlock Group control whether objects inside the cube can be edited.

Additional options include assigning colors to Group Cubes to identify them when a scene holds many groups, an "Objects in group unselectable" checkbox, group renaming, and an improved UI. The Grouped Cube also supports Cycles render mode. A demo video is available.

Who is Group It! Add-On best for?

Group It! Add-On is best for blender users working with many separate objects who want to group, duplicate, lock, color-code, and rename them in a few clicks.

How much does Group It! Add-On cost?

Group It! Add-On is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

How do I group and ungroup objects with Group It! Add-On?

Group It! Add-On works in two clicks: select two or more objects in your scene, then press the Group button to combine them. To reverse this, use the Ungroup button, which removes the parent and deletes the bounding cube around the objects. The ungroup, duplicate, and delete group options only appear once you have clicked the Grouped Cube, so the interface stays focused on the group you are actually working with.

Does Group It! Add-On work with Cycles?

Group It! Add-On supports Cycles render mode for the Grouped Cube, a fix introduced in version 1.1. Beyond rendering, the add-on includes a Real-time Auto Resize option: when an object inside the Grouped Cube moves, the cube updates to match in real time, and you can toggle this behaviour on or off. You can also assign colors to each Group Cube to tell groups apart when a scene holds many groups and objects, and switch those colors on or off as needed.

Is there a shortcut to duplicate a group in Group It! Add-On?

Group It! Add-On maps CTRL+SHIFT+D to Duplicate Group, which copies the group along with the items inside it. You can also duplicate a group by selecting it and clicking the Duplicate Group icon, so the shortcut and the button do the same job. A separate Delete Group button removes the group and the objects inside it. These duplicate and delete options, along with ungroup, only show after you click the Grouped Cube.

Can I lock a group to prevent editing in Group It! Add-On?

Group It! Add-On includes Lock Group and Unlock Group options. Lock Group stops you from editing the objects inside the Grouped Cube, while Unlock Group reverses that and lets you edit them again. The add-on also has an "Objects in group unselectable" checkbox: tick it before grouping and the objects will not be selected after the group is formed. Renaming a group is supported as well, alongside an improved UI.

Is Group It! Add-On free?

Group It! Add-On is listed here as free. The developer originally offered it as a free bonus with the purchase of the Mahishmati 3D Model. For current licensing terms and any conditions, check the developer's page. The add-on is also noted as available on Gumroad, and the developer runs a Discord server for support and update notifications. According to the developer, updates are provided free and announced by email to purchasers.
