Handy Surface Detail is an asset pack for Blender containing over 100 meshes intended for use as surface details. It uses Blender's internal Tissue addon to populate the surface of a target mesh, and it ships with a helper script to simplify the process. The developer built it to speed up adding and refining surface details, particularly applying standard hard surface boolean objects onto a curved surface.
Detail meshes are grouped into categories: net and grid alike; armor, scales, lace and cloth deco; architecture elements such as brick and tiles; and random hard surface models using boolean modifier stacks. Details are added by selecting a source detail object, shift-selecting a target, and pressing add element, with a scifi workflow that works from a selected rectangle shape in edit mode.
The tool provides various on-the-fly controls: keys to scale, rotate, cycle, randomize and remove elements, toggle vertex snapping, subdivide details, and control the blendshape. It can append a selected mesh as a detail element and save custom mesh details automatically to the assets folder.
