Why we like it

Sculpt Stroke Replay earns its place in the Blender extensions library by doing one thing directly: giving you a live-preview way to re-apply and rescale your last sculpt stroke. At around 3.2 KB it stays narrow in focus, and the developer is upfront about where it doesn't apply, namely Dyntopo and Multires.

What is Sculpt Stroke Replay?

Sculpt Stroke Replay adds a single-purpose tool to Blender's Sculpt Mode: it repeats your most recent sculpt brush stroke and lets you dial in its intensity with a live preview before you confirm. Both positive and negative strength values are supported, so you can amplify a stroke, add it partially, or partially reduce it.

Access comes from a panel in the Sculpt Mode sidebar, with an optional Alt+Shift+R shortcut. The add-on reconstructs the last stroke from Blender's undo history, so it works best immediately after you make a sculpt brush stroke. Repeat Strength maps directly to the effect: 1.0 replays once, 0.5 adds half strength, 2.0 doubles it, and -0.5 partially reduces the stroke.

A few workflows fall outside its scope. Dynamic Topology (Dyntopo), Multiresolution sculpting, and operations that change topology between undo states are not supported. It's compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer and released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.

Who is Sculpt Stroke Replay best for?

Sculpt Stroke Replay is best for blender artists working in Sculpt Mode who want to repeat and fine-tune the strength of their last brush stroke.

How much does Sculpt Stroke Replay cost?

Sculpt Stroke Replay is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Does Sculpt Stroke Replay work with Blender 4.2?

Sculpt Stroke Replay lists compatibility with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so 4.2 and later releases are covered. It operates inside Sculpt Mode, adding a panel to the sidebar and an optional Alt+Shift+R shortcut. Note that depending on your Blender version and platform, a restart may be required after installation before the shortcut becomes available. The current version is 0.1.6, released June 9th, 2026.

How do I install Sculpt Stroke Replay?

Sculpt Stroke Replay installs like other Blender extensions: drag and drop the add-on into Blender, or download it and use Install from Disk. Depending on your Blender version and platform, a restart may be needed after installation for the Alt+Shift+R shortcut to become available. Once installed, head to Sculpt Mode, where the tool appears as a panel in the sidebar. The add-on requires no special permissions.

Does Sculpt Stroke Replay support Dyntopo or Multires sculpting?

Sculpt Stroke Replay does not currently support Dynamic Topology (Dyntopo) or Multiresolution sculpting. It also doesn't handle operations that change topology between undo states, since it reconstructs the last stroke from Blender's undo history. For that reason it works best immediately after you make a sculpt brush stroke, before other topology-changing actions come between. Within those limits, it replays the last stroke with adjustable strength and a live preview.

Is Sculpt Stroke Replay free to use?

Sculpt Stroke Replay is listed as free here and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. For current licensing details, check the developer's page. The add-on requires no special permissions and is compact at around 3.2 KB. It's distributed through Blender's extensions system, so you can drag and drop it into Blender or install it from disk.
