Why we like it

Hide & Seek earns its place in the Superhive library for consolidating Blender's several kinds of hidden state — viewport, disable and render — into one filterable list with isolate and collection tools.

What is Hide & Seek?

Hide & Seek handles the process of finding and managing hidden objects in a Blender scene. A single Refresh gathers all hidden objects into a clean list, where you can inspect and control them directly rather than searching the Outliner. Clicking an object's name temporarily unhides it for inspection and clicking again hides it, so you can cycle through objects without permanently changing their state.

Version 2.0 introduces a granular filtering system that separately handles objects hidden with the Eye, Monitor, or Render icons — covering Hide in Viewport, Disable in Viewport, and Disable in Renders. By default the list shows only the icon causing an object to be hidden; the 'Show All Flags' option reveals and edits every visibility state at once. Live counters give an immediate overview of the scene's status.

Isolate Mode temporarily views any object from the list by itself, hiding everything else, then restores the previous state on exit. A two-step collection workflow groups filtered objects into a "Hide & Seek" collection, then Unlink All removes them from their original collections and Relink All restores the links. The 'Match Render to Viewport' button syncs the final render to the viewport and is fully reversible.

Who is Hide & Seek best for?

Hide & Seek is best for blender users working in complex scenes who need to track, toggle and isolate hidden objects without navigating the Outliner.

How much does Hide & Seek cost?

Hide & Seek is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

What are the different visibility states Hide & Seek can filter?

Hide & Seek covers the several ways an object can be hidden in Blender. It filters and individually toggles Hide in Viewport, the standard visibility toggle; Disable in Viewport, for objects also excluded from simulations; and Disable in Renders, for objects visible in the viewport that won't appear in the final render. Each corresponds to the Eye, Monitor, or Render icon, and you can filter them separately. Activating 'Show All Flags' displays and lets you edit every visibility state for any object in the list at once.

How does the Unlink All and Relink All collection workflow work?

Hide & Seek uses a two-step workflow. First, the "Create / Update Collection" button creates a "Hide & Seek" collection containing all objects currently in the list, and by default they remain linked to their original collections. Second, clicking "Unlink All" temporarily removes those objects from their original collections so they exist only in the clean "Hide & Seek" collection, giving an organized Outliner. Clicking "Relink All" restores all the original links instantly, so the grouping is temporary and reversible.

Does previewing a hidden object change its visibility permanently?

Hide & Seek keeps previewing separate from permanent changes. Clicking an object's name in the list temporarily unhides it for inspection, and clicking the name again hides it, letting you cycle through objects without permanently changing their status. To make an object permanently visible instead, click its visibility icon — such as the eye — directly in the list. Isolate Mode is also temporary: it hides everything else while you focus on one object, and exiting restores the scene's previous visibility state.

Is Hide & Seek free to use?

Hide & Seek is listed as free in this catalog. Because licensing terms can change over time, check the developer CreateVisions' page for the current details before you download. The add-on includes documentation, and this listing refers to version 2.0, which was rebuilt with a new filtering system, the 'Show All Flags' option, standalone collections via Unlink and Relink, and the 'Match Render to Viewport' function for the latest capabilities.
