Why we like it

Hide It earns its place in the superhive library by consolidating object and geometry hiding, plus staged unhide controls, into a single panel. It's GPL-licensed and lists compatibility spanning Blender 2.92 through 4.4.

What is Hide It?

Hide It adds a panel to Blender for hiding and restoring parts of a scene. Selecting objects and pressing the 'hide selected' button removes them from the viewport and adds them to a 'currently hidden objects' list, where each entry has its own button to unhide it. The H key and the outliner's eye icon work too. A 'hide in render' checkbox can keep hidden objects out of the render, though objects hidden with the H key are not excluded from the render.

Several restore options are included. The 'unhide all' button reveals every hidden object in the scene, including those hidden through the outliner. 'Unhide last' brings objects back in the opposite order they were hidden, and an 'unhide steps' selector sets how many objects to reveal at once, adjustable at any time.

The add-on also hides vertices, edges and faces: pick a mode from the panel's dropdown, enter edit mode, select the geometry and hide it. Since version 1.1, mesh objects can also be hidden by selecting their material in the panel.

Who is Hide It best for?

Hide It is best for blender users who want a panel-based way to hide and restore objects and mesh components.

How much does Hide It cost?

Hide It is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Which Blender versions does Hide It support?

Hide It lists compatibility with a wide range of Blender releases, from 2.92 and 2.93 through the 3.x series and up to 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4. It's marked as Blender Extension compatible and is distributed as an add-on under the GPL license. The listed range covers both older and current Blender releases, but for the exact version behaviour and any setup notes it's worth checking the developer's page before installing.

Is Hide It free to download?

Hide It is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it to your Blender setup without a purchase here. Licensing and availability can change over time, and the add-on itself is distributed under the GPL license, so for the current terms check the developer's page directly. That's also the best place to confirm which download matches your Blender version and to find the documentation that ships with the add-on.

Can Hide It hide vertices, edges and faces?

Hide It handles mesh components as well as whole objects. You select your mesh, choose vertices, edges or faces from the dropdown in the panel, and the object enters edit mode so you can select the geometry to hide. Pressing 'hide selected' or the H key then hides that selection, whether you picked one element or several. The 'unhide last' button restores the hidden geometry in the step set by the selector, and you can undo the steps until the mesh is whole again, or use 'unhide all' to reveal everything at once.

How does the 'unhide last' feature work in Hide It?

Hide It's 'unhide last' button brings back the most recently hidden object, working the same whether the object was hidden through the panel or the outliner. It reveals objects in the opposite order they were hidden. The paired 'unhide steps' selector lets you set how many of these steps to go back at once, and that value can be changed whenever you want. For mesh components, 'unhide last' restores hidden geometry according to the step set in the selector.

What changed in Hide It version 1.1?

Hide It version 1.1 added the ability to hide mesh objects by selecting their material in the panel, on top of the object and geometry hiding from the initial 1.0 release. The rest of the add-on covers hiding selected objects, keeping them out of the render with a checkbox, and a set of unhide controls including 'unhide all', 'unhide last' and an adjustable 'unhide steps' selector. Full usage details and the documentation are available from the developer's page.
