Why we like it

Earns its place in the Blender extensions library for consolidating color, filter, texture and warp tools into the Image Editor, with a GPU/CPU dual-engine approach and real-time split-screen preview.

What is Image Editor Master [图像超级工具]?

Image Editor Master by RARA brings image editing into Blender's Image Editor using GPU-based proxy preview rendering, for a Photoshop-like editing experience. It packs 23 image editing tools plus 3 geometric warp tools, all supporting real-time GPU preview and split-screen comparison, so you can work on images without round-tripping to an external editor.

Color adjustment covers exposure, gamma, color balance, hue/saturation, vibrance and contrast, alongside a channel mixer, an 8-tone HSL color mixer, levels, Reinhard LAB color transfer, posterize and channel-level invert. Filter effects include several blur modes, unsharp-mask sharpening, high pass, noise, Sobel edge detection, mosaic, crystallize, emboss, noise reduction and color halftone. Texture processing handles height-to-normal generation, normal-to-height, normal conversion, height-to-AO, curvature maps, seamless tiling and 15-mode image compositing.

Many operations run on a GPU/CPU dual engine that defaults to GPU and falls back to CPU, switchable with one click. The interface ships in six languages, and the add-on relies only on Blender's built-in libraries. It is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later.

Who is Image Editor Master [图像超级工具] best for?

Image Editor Master [图像超级工具] is best for blender artists who want to adjust color, apply filters, process texture maps and warp images inside the Image Editor rather than switching to an external editor.

How much does Image Editor Master [图像超级工具] cost?

Image Editor Master [图像超级工具] is completely free to download and use.

Key features

Frequently asked questions

Does Image Editor Master work with Blender 4.2?

Image Editor Master is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, and its extension manifest targets Blender 4.2 and up. You can install it straight from Blender's Get Extensions browser by searching for its name, or add it from disk. Once installed, open an image in the Image Editor, open the N panel, and switch to the Tools tab, where the toolset appears. The developer recommends Blender 4.2 or later, so older releases are not listed as supported.

Does Image Editor Master need any extra dependencies?

Image Editor Master relies only on Blender's built-in libraries, so there is nothing extra to download. It uses NumPy for its image processing core, OpenImageIO for image handling, and Blender's own GPU modules (gpu, gpu_extras, blf) for the accelerated preview and rendering. Because these ship with Blender, installing the add-on through the Extensions browser or from disk is enough to get it running. The extension also requests permission to read images from disk and copy images from the clipboard.

How do I install Image Editor Master?

Image Editor Master can be installed several ways. The simplest is through Blender's Edit menu, Preferences, Get Extensions, then searching for its name and clicking install. You can also download the repository ZIP and use Install from Disk, or drag a release zip directly onto the Blender window. A manual option copies the image_editor_tools directory into Blender's addons folder for your platform. After installing, open an image in the Image Editor and find the toolset under the N panel's Tools tab.

Does Image Editor Master require a GPU?

Image Editor Master defaults to a GPU engine but does not strictly require one. Operations such as blur, USM sharpen, high pass, uniform lighting, noise reduction, normal generation, height-to-AO and curvature maps run on a GPU/CPU dual engine, and if the GPU path fails it falls back to CPU automatically. You can also switch engines with one click. Some features, including crystallize via GPU JFA and the Place Image and Place Text tools, are fully GPU-based with real-time blend-mode preview.
