Insideout earns its place in the Blender cleanup library by targeting one job precisely: deleting geometry that can never be seen, without remeshing what remains. The three-button workflow and Select-mode preview keep the process straightforward, and the developer backs it with lifetime updates and personal support through Superhive.
Insideout - Delete Inside Geometry is a Blender add-on by kleinARt that fires millions of visibility rays at a scene — the same ray-casting technique renderers use — and deletes everything that can never be seen from outside. Screws inside housings, pistons inside engine blocks and furniture behind closed walls are removed, while the visible shell stays intact.
The workflow is three buttons: Coarse deletes fully hidden objects, Fine sweeps interior faces, and Precise deep-validates tight CAD geometry. A Select mode previews what will be removed before anything is deleted. Because it deletes rather than remeshes, surviving faces keep their exact topology, quads, n-gons, UVs, normals and material assignments — the visible surface is never touched.
It runs on a native C++ core weighing about 350 KB, saturating every CPU core with optional NVIDIA CUDA acceleration on Windows x64 and Linux x64. On a 22,308-object CAD assembly of 6.9 million tris, one Coarse click removed 81% of the scene in 22.7 seconds, and a full Precise clean stripped 93.8% of hidden geometry.

Insideout ships as a Blender 4.2+ Superhive extension package, so it installs directly on that release line and newer. The developer also reports testing it in Blender 3.6, 4.5 and 5.1 using manual install workflows, so those versions are covered through that route rather than the extension system. If you are on 4.2 or above, use the extension package; on other versions, follow the manual install steps. Insideout runs on CPU by default and saturates every available core through its native C++ engine, so a dedicated GPU is not required. On Windows x64 and Linux x64 it can also use optional NVIDIA CUDA acceleration, which the developer measured at 3.7× faster than CPU alone on their benchmark scene. If you have a supported NVIDIA card on those platforms, you get the extra speed; if not, the tool still works on CPU. macOS Apple Silicon builds are available as well.
Insideout offers Windows x64, Linux x64 and macOS Apple Silicon builds, shipped as a self-contained zip that includes its runtime. Optional NVIDIA CUDA acceleration is available on Windows x64 and Linux x64. On macOS the native helper is unsigned, so if the system blocks it you can remove quarantine from the installed add-on folder to let it run. Insideout reads the base mesh data, so apply your modifiers before running it. It also treats transparent and glass materials as occluders, which means geometry hidden behind them may be kept; exclude those materials if you need the interior removed. To stay in control, use Select mode to preview what would be deleted before committing to it. These steps help the ray-casting pass read your scene the way you expect.
