Kaboom is a Blender addon from Picto Filmo built to produce destruction VFX. Models you want to destroy have to be manifold — a closed volume — because the addon relies on boolean operations for fracturing. You can fracture your model with a simplified process or import prefractured models, then animate the dynamics triggering and adjust in realtime until you're happy with the result.
The process runs in steps. After fracturing, the Blast and Krumble stage creates explosions and crumbling effects, then you bake the dynamics to keyframes in one click. A rough cuts tool adds realism to the flat faces left by basic fracturing, with settings you adjust in real time. Particle debris generate on strong acceleration variations, and smoke can emit on acceleration thresholds, explosions, collisions and part movement.
Debris and smoke are controlled with native Blender functionality — select a system, customize it and hit DEPLOY to apply the settings across all others. Version 1.7.0 adds Constraints by Clusters and mesh boolean based rough cuts for Blender 4.5. It's compatible from Blender 3.3.x on Linux, macOS and Windows.
