Earns its place in the superhive library for keeping a locally-downloaded Megascans library browsable inside Blender, with automatic PBR material setup applied on import.
Megascans Library Importer lets Blender users browse and import a locally-downloaded Megascans library without switching between applications. Point it at a downloaded Megascans folder, scan once, and it opens a browsing window with a thumbnail grid, a detail sidebar, and instant import that includes automatic PBR material setup. It works with assets you have already downloaded and does not connect to or download from any online service.
The add-on covers all eight Megascans asset types: 3D Assets, 3D Plants, Surfaces, Decals, Atlases, Imperfections, Displacements, and Brushes. Nested subcategory filtering with adjustable depth, filters for size, environment, and color, and smart search across names and tags help locate specific assets. Per-asset resolution and LOD selection uses LOD-matched textures, and a triangle-count display sums figures for multi-object assets.
Megascans Library Importer runs on Blender 4.2 through 5.1 under a GPL license and supports Cycles and Eevee. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Epic Games or Quixel.
Megascans Library Importer is best for blender users who want to browse and import an already-downloaded Megascans library from inside Blender.
Megascans Library Importer is completely free to download and use.
Megascans Library Importer runs on Blender 4.2 and up, with listed compatibility spanning Blender 4.2 through 5.1, so it does work with Blender 5.1. It is a Blender-compatible extension distributed as an add-on. Blender 5.1 falls within the stated version range, and for details on any newer builds or updated compatibility you can check the developer's page before installing. The add-on works with a locally-downloaded Megascans library once installed.
Megascans Library Importer works only with Megascans assets you have already downloaded to your machine. You point it at your local Megascans folder, and it scans that library once to build the browsing window. It does not connect to or download from any online service, so you manage the actual asset downloads yourself elsewhere. The add-on is also not affiliated with or endorsed by Epic Games or Quixel.
Megascans Library Importer lists support for Cycles and Eevee, along with Blender-Internal and Blender-Game-Engine. When you import an asset, it sets up PBR materials automatically, wiring albedo, normal, roughness, metalness, displacement, and opacity maps. A material-only mode is also available, and asset info such as size, tileable, texel density, and color is shown. Resolution and LOD are selectable per asset, with LOD-matched textures applied during import.
Megascans Library Importer is listed as free here in our catalog, and it is distributed under a GPL license. Licensing terms can change, so for the most current details it is best to check the developer's page before you download. The add-on works with your existing local Megascans library and handles browsing and import inside Blender once it is installed. A demo video is also available.
