Mirror Copy earns its place in the Superhive library for a focused mirroring workflow: a plane-based approach that handles single or multiple objects and, since V3, keeps the 3D cursor in place after applying.
Mirror Copy is a Blender add-on for making a mirrored copy of a mesh object with the help of a plane. To mirror a single object you select it and choose one of the Mirror planes for X, Y or Z. The plane is added at the origin of your object, and moving it along the axis reveals the mirrored object. Rotation is also possible. When you apply the mirror, you get an individual mirrored copy. The approach is described as recognisable for people with a CAD background who are used to mirroring.
The add-on can mirror one or multiple objects at once. An option lets you keep the original object(s) when the mirror is applied, and the 3D cursor stays in place after applying. With Auto-merge enabled, the original and mirrored object become one mesh, while Merge Distance merges vertices toward the mirror plane, with red guide lines showing which vertices will be merged.
Version V3 was fully rewritten and no longer uses the mirror modifier. It targets Blender 4.1 through 5.0. Documentation is included, and a demo video is available.
Mirror Copy is best for blender users mirroring mesh objects along an axis, including those with a CAD background familiar with mirroring workflows.
Mirror Copy is completely free to download and use.
Mirror Copy lists compatibility with Blender versions 4.1 through 5.0, and the V3 changelog specifically names 4.1, 4.2, 4.3+ and 5.0 as supported. Version V3 was fully rewritten and no longer uses the mirror modifier. It is listed as a Blender Extension-compatible add-on, so check the developer's page to confirm the current version matches your Blender installation before you install it.
Mirror Copy offers merging as of the V3.1 changelog. With Auto-merge enabled, the original object and the mirrored object become one mesh object. Using Merge Distance merges the vertices toward where the mirror plane is situated, and red guide lines show which vertices will be merged. The Keep original option can still be used while merging, so you can retain the source object alongside the merged result if you choose.
Mirror Copy can mirror one or multiple objects at once. In earlier versions you had to join objects with Ctrl J first, but that step is no longer needed in version V3. When mirroring multiple objects, the original and newly mirrored geometry end up separated as loose parts and become individual objects. There is also an option to keep the original object(s) when the mirror is applied.
Mirror Copy is listed as free in this catalog and is distributed under the GPL license. For current licensing terms, refer to the developer's page. The add-on is provided by KVD as a Blender Extension-compatible add-on, with documentation included. Because licensing and availability can change, confirm the latest details directly on the developer's listing before you download or install it.
