Why we like it

Mycel stands out in the superhive library because it folds renaming, colour-coding, visibility snapshots and duplicate-fixing into one N-panel, and keeps every batch reversible with a single Undo step.

What is Mycel?

Mycel is an asset-management add-on for Blender 5.0 and later, developed by Sporemind. Its Organizer tab in the N-panel puts scene-management tools one click away. You can batch rename objects, meshes, materials, modifiers, bones and collections using four modes — Find/Replace, Prefix/Suffix, Sequential and Regex — and apply them across a selection, the active collection, or the entire scene.

Beyond renaming, Mycel lets you colour-tag collections with the Outliner colours updating instantly, and Quick Isolate hides every collection except the active one, restoring with one click. Scene States save named visibility snapshots inside the .blend file, so you can reload them any time and they travel with the file when you share it.

A Find Duplicate Names scan lists duplicates across objects, meshes and materials, and Auto-fix Duplicates appends .001-style suffixes automatically. Find/Replace and Regex modes include a case-sensitive toggle. Every batch registers as a single Undo step, and nothing is written outside the .blend file.

Who is Mycel best for?

Mycel is best for game artists preparing assets for Unity or Unreal that require strict naming conventions, arch viz and product viz artists juggling many collections and lighting variants, character and prop modellers cleaning up imports from other DCC tools, and studios that need every handed-over .blend to have clean, predictable data.

How much does Mycel cost?

Mycel is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Does Mycel work with Blender 5.0?

Mycel is built for Blender 5.0 and later, so you'll need a compatible build of Blender to run it. It works across Windows, macOS and Linux, and all of its tools live in the Organizer tab of the N-panel, where every scene-management tool is one click away. Because the current release is version 1.0, check the developer's page for the latest details on supported Blender versions before installing.

Can I undo a batch rename in Mycel?

Mycel registers every batch operation as a single step in Blender's undo history, so one press of Ctrl+Z reverts an entire rename at once — you don't have to undo item by item. This applies whether you renamed a handful of objects or hundreds across the scene. Mycel also keeps your scene data intact and writes nothing outside the .blend file, so experimenting with a batch carries little risk.

Does Mycel rename materials inside a linked library?

Mycel only touches data in the current scene, so materials inside a linked library are left untouched. Linked library data is read-only and is skipped automatically during a batch. Note that renaming a material shared between objects in the current scene behaves just like renaming it manually — both objects reference the renamed material. That means shared materials in your scene rename cleanly in one pass, while anything pulled in from an external library keeps its original names.

Is Mycel free to use?

Mycel is listed as free here in our catalog. For current licensing terms, along with documentation, product updates and support from Sporemind, check the developer's page. The add-on installs into Blender 5.0 or later and adds its Organizer tab to the N-panel, where batch renaming, collection colour-tagging, Scene States and duplicate-name tools are all accessible. Since a catalog listing can lag behind the developer, confirming terms there is the safest bet.

What operating systems does Mycel support?

Mycel runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, matching Blender's own cross-platform support. It targets Blender 5.0 and later, and its features are reached from the Organizer tab in the N-panel. All of its work — batch renames, colour tags, Scene States and duplicate fixes — stays inside the current .blend file, with nothing written elsewhere on your system. That keeps the add-on's footprint contained to the file you're working in.
