NodeVoidKeeper earns its place in the blender_extensions library as a small quality-of-life add-on with a focused job: keeping node graphs centered on save and load, while panning the editor viewport so nothing appears to move. It holds a 5.0 rating from a single review.
NodeVoidKeeper is an add-on for Blender that automatically re-centers your nodes around (0,0) each time you save or load a file. It's built to keep nodes from drifting into the void of the infinite node canvas.
Alongside the automatic centering, the add-on adds a couple of extras. If you have a node editor open, its viewport pans together with the nodes, so they stay in the same place from your perspective and your workflow isn't interrupted. The nodes also keep their offset to the underlying snapping grid, so if you snapped nodes to the grid, that alignment is preserved.
NodeVoidKeeper is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, and has also been tested with Blender 3.6, 4.3 and 4.4. It can be downloaded as a zip and installed the usual way on lower versions. All operating systems are supported, the add-on requires no special permissions, and it's released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.
NodeVoidKeeper is best for blender artists who work in the node editor and want their nodes to stay centered around the origin automatically.
NodeVoidKeeper is completely free to download and use.
NodeVoidKeeper is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, which is the minimum needed to install it as an extension. Beyond that, the add-on has been tested with Blender 3.6, 4.3 and 4.4. For versions below 4.2 you can download it as a zip file and install it the usual way, since it was tested down to 3.6. Versions below or above the tested range aren't officially tested but will probably still work, and custom Blender forks likely work too, though the developer hasn't tested them.
NodeVoidKeeper can be installed by dragging and dropping it into Blender, or by downloading the add-on and installing it from disk. It's distributed as a small zip file, and on Blender versions below 4.2 you can install it the same way you would install any traditional add-on from a zip. The add-on requires no special permissions to run. For the latest download and setup details, check the developer's page.
NodeVoidKeeper supports all operating systems, so it runs wherever Blender itself does. It has been tested with Blender 3.6, 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4, and needs Blender 4.2 or higher to install as an extension. On lower versions you can still use it by downloading the zip and installing it manually, as it was tested down to 3.6. The add-on is lightweight and requires no special permissions to work.
NodeVoidKeeper is listed as free here in the catalog, and it's released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, which is an open-source license. Individual files within the project may carry a different but compatible license. For current licensing terms and any conditions tied to the source code, check the developer's page. The add-on requires no special permissions and is distributed as a small extension for Blender.
