Palette earns its place in the blender_extensions library for turning a large catalog of terminal color schemes into complete, contrast-checked Blender themes with live, non-destructive preview.
Palette maps over 600 terminal color schemes to Blender's full theme system, pulling from the two largest open-source terminal color scheme libraries, iTerm2-Color-Schemes and Gogh. Press Load Themes and the add-on fetches the latest theme files from the upstream repositories and caches them locally. From there, clicking any theme in the list updates Blender instantly with no restart. Hit Apply when you find one you like, or Reset if you don't.
Terminal schemes only define 16 ANSI colors plus a handful of UI colors, while Blender's theme system has hundreds of fields. Palette uses perceptual color math (OKLCH) to derive surfaces, borders, text colors, accents, and contrast-checked UI elements from the source palette, producing a coherent theme rather than 16 colors splattered across the interface.
Palette does not bundle or redistribute any theme files. All schemes are fetched on-demand from their original public repositories, and each retains its original name and attribution. Credit for the schemes goes to Mark Badolato, the Gogh contributors, and every individual theme creator listed in those projects.
Palette is best for blender users who want the interface to match a terminal or editor color scheme.
Palette is completely free to download and use.
Palette is compatible with Blender 4.5 LTS and newer. It applies theme changes through Blender's Python API and updates the interface instantly when you click a theme in the list, with no restart required. Because it maps terminal schemes across Blender's full theme system rather than assigning a handful of colors, you get a coherent UI theme instead of a partial recolor. For current compatibility details, check the developer's page.
Palette fetches the latest theme files on-demand from the iTerm2-Color-Schemes and Gogh repositories when you press Load Themes, then caches them locally. It checks Blender's online access setting before any network request and aborts with a user-facing message if online access is disabled. If you want to work offline, you can point the add-on at a local folder of .itermcolors, .yml, or .yaml files and load those instead of or alongside the remote repositories.
Palette includes a Palette Editor that lets you modify any of the 16 ANSI colors plus the background, foreground, selection, and cursor before applying a theme. It provides a Swap Colors tool for exchanging two slots and a Reset to Original option for backing out of edits. Live preview is on by default, so selecting a theme updates the UI immediately, and no files are written during preview, which keeps browsing and tweaking non-destructive.
Palette is listed as free here and is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. It does not bundle or redistribute any theme files; all schemes are fetched from their original public repositories and retain their original names and attribution. Credit for the color schemes goes to Mark Badolato, the Gogh contributors, and the individual theme creators. For current licensing details, check the developer's page.
