Why we like it

Parametrizer earns its place in the superhive library for turning mesh edits into slider-driven parameters that stay with the object when it's appended into another scene.

What is Parametrizer?

Parametrizer is a Blender add-on that lets you change mesh geometry interactively through customizable parameters. For any mesh, you build a set of parameters that regulate its sizes and ratios, then modify the geometry by sliding the parameter fields in the add-on's main panel.

Each parameter is configured in its own panel: give it a name, set a mode (TRANSLATION for moving, ROTATION for rotation, SCALE for scaling), choose the axes to change, and pick the selected vertices it applies to. You can also adjust the orientation of the axes and set the origin for the transformation, and existing parameters can be modified or removed. When you create or change a parameter, an orientation widget of three axes (green, red, and blue) shows the current coordinate system, and buttons let you align it to the visible axes or move the origin to the mesh origin, the cursor, or the center of the active selection.

Parameters are saved with the mesh and can be used when the mesh is appended to another scene, so you can create libraries of easily modifiable objects. The add-on is located in the 3D Viewport N-panel under the Parametrizer tab.

Who is Parametrizer best for?

Parametrizer is best for blender users who want to reshape meshes through adjustable parameters and build libraries of easily modifiable objects.

How much does Parametrizer cost?

Parametrizer is completely free to download and use.

Key features

  • Customizable parameters that regulate a mesh's sizes and ratios, adjusted by sliding parameter fields
  • Three modes per parameter: TRANSLATION for moving, ROTATION for rotation, and SCALE for scaling
  • Axis selection and application to the selected vertices for each parameter
  • Adjustable orientation and origin for each parameter's transformation
  • Orientation widget showing the current coordinate system as three axes in green, red, and blue
  • Origin controls to move the widget to the mesh origin, the cursor, or the center of the active selection
  • Parameters saved with the mesh for reuse when appended to another scene, enabling libraries of modifiable objects

Frequently asked questions

Which Blender versions does Parametrizer support?

Parametrizer supports Blender versions 2.80, 2.81, 2.82, 2.83, and 2.90. If you're on one of those releases, you can add the add-on and start building parameters for your meshes. For other Blender versions, check the developer's page to confirm compatibility before installing, since the releases listed here are the ones stated for this add-on. The current add-on version is 1.1.0, so it's worth verifying you have the matching build for your setup.

Where do I find Parametrizer in Blender?

Parametrizer is located in the 3D Viewport window, inside the N-panel under the Parametrizer tab. From there you add a new parameter with the Add new parameter button, configure it in its panel, and confirm with OK. Once a parameter exists, the main panel shows its field, and sliding that field changes the mesh geometry. The same panel also holds the Modify active parameter and Remove active parameter buttons for editing or deleting parameters you've already created.

Can Parametrizer's parameters be reused in other scenes?

Parametrizer saves parameters together with the mesh, so they stay attached to the object. When you append that mesh into another scene, the parameters come with it and remain usable, which lets you build libraries of easily modifiable objects. Each parameter keeps its mode, axes, orientation, and origin settings, so the geometry can be reshaped again in the new scene by sliding the parameter fields just as you would in the original file.

Is Parametrizer free to use?

Parametrizer is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing terms and any purchase details, check the developer's page, since terms can change over time. The add-on comes from Nikita Akimov, and a demo video is available if you'd like to see more before adding it to your workflow. After installation, you'll find it in the 3D Viewport N-panel under the Parametrizer tab, ready to build parameters on any mesh.
