Photoshop Link earns its place in the superhive library for handling the round trip between Blender and Photoshop from the 3D View sidebar, without manual file handling. Note that it requires a companion plugin installed inside Photoshop to work.
Photoshop Link is a Blender add-on that connects Blender and Photoshop for moving images between them. From a dedicated Photoshop panel in Blender's 3D View sidebar, you send the Render Result or a specific image from the Image Editor to Photoshop for editing, then import the edited image back into Blender. Version control on import lets you override the existing image or create a new version.
Images transfer without manual saving, exporting, or navigating folders, and temporary files are cleaned up automatically after use. The add-on auto-detects active Photoshop installations across versions 24 to 26 on Windows and macOS, and toggle settings such as "Override Existing Images" and "Allow Selected Image" give you control over how transfers behave.
Photoshop Link requires Blender 4.2 or later and Photoshop CC 2023 through 2025, running on Windows 10/11 or macOS 12 and above. Photoshop must be installed with the companion plugin, which the add-on relies on to send edited images back to Blender. A demo video is available.
Photoshop Link is best for texture artists, concept designers, and 3D creators who refine renders in Photoshop.
Photoshop Link is completely free to download and use.
Photoshop Link requires Blender 4.2 or later, so any version from 4.2 onward is supported. It adds a dedicated Photoshop panel to Blender's 3D View sidebar, where you send the Render Result or a selected image to Photoshop and import edited images back. Alongside the Blender requirement, you also need Photoshop installed with the companion plugin, since the two applications communicate through it. If Photoshop is not detected automatically, you can set the installation path manually in the add-on settings.
Photoshop Link supports Photoshop CC 2023 (version 24) through 2025 (version 26). It auto-detects active Photoshop installations across that range on both Windows and macOS. If your version falls outside 24 to 26, it isn't listed as supported. The add-on also relies on a companion plugin installed inside Photoshop, which handles saving the edited image and sending it back to Blender. Once that plugin is in place and Photoshop is detected, you can move images between the two programs from the sidebar panel.
Photoshop Link runs on Windows 10 and 11 or macOS 12 and later, so it works across both platforms. On either system it auto-detects active Photoshop installations for versions 24 to 26. You'll need Blender 4.2 or later and Photoshop installed with the companion plugin. The companion plugin can be installed automatically by double-clicking the Photoshop to Blender.cxx file, which opens Adobe Creative Cloud to guide the process, after which you restart Photoshop to activate it.
Photoshop Link needs its companion plugin installed inside Photoshop before the two applications can communicate. For automatic setup, locate the Photoshop to Blender.cxx file in the installation folder and double-click it, which opens Adobe Creative Cloud to guide the installation; then restart Photoshop to activate it. In Blender, enable Photoshop Link under Edit > Preferences > Add-ons. If Photoshop isn't auto-detected, set the installation path manually in the add-on settings. Detailed setup guides are included for both Blender and Photoshop.
Photoshop Link is listed as free here in our catalog. For current licensing details, check the developer's page. Functionally, it bridges Blender and Photoshop through a companion plugin, letting you send the Render Result or a selected image to Photoshop, edit it, and import it back into Blender with version control that overrides existing images or creates new versions. Temporary files are cleaned up automatically after use, so no manual file handling is needed for the transfer.
