Why we like it

Polylinker earns its place in the Blender library for turning repeated high/low object renaming into a proximity-matched, one-click step with custom naming.

What is Polylinker Addon?

Polylinker Addon is a Blender addon for renaming high-poly and low-poly objects. You build two lists by selecting objects in the 3D Viewport and clicking Add Selected to Low Poly List and Add Selected to High Poly List. Enter a custom base name in the Custom Name field, then click Assign High/Low Poly Names, and PolyLinker renames the objects as Model.001_low, Model.001_high, and so on.

Matching is proximity-based. The addon calculates the distance between the center points of objects to find the closest pairs, so objects do not need to sit in exactly the same position, only close to each other within a certain distance. Once pairs are set, it adds _low and _high suffixes according to their relative match.

The panel lives in the 3D Viewport under the N panel in the Konehon Tools tab. Clear Low Poly List, Clear High Poly List, and Remove Selected from List let you reset or adjust the lists. If you try to rename an object deleted or renamed outside the addon, PolyLinker shows an error message. It is compatible with Blender 2.8.0 and above.

Who is Polylinker Addon best for?

Polylinker Addon is best for blender artists who need to rename many high-poly and low-poly object pairs at once for high-to-low bake workflows.

How much does Polylinker Addon cost?

Polylinker Addon is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

How do I install Polylinker Addon in Blender?

Polylinker Addon installs like a standard Blender add-on. Download the .zip, open Blender, and go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons. Click Install, locate the downloaded .zip file, and click Install Add-on, then enable it by checking the box next to PolyLinker. Once enabled, the panel appears in the 3D Viewport under the N panel in the Konehon Tools tab, where you can start adding objects to the low poly and high poly lists.

Does Polylinker Addon work with Blender 4.2?

Polylinker Addon is compatible with Blender 2.8.0 and above. Listed Blender versions include 4.2, 4.1, 4.0, 3.6, 3.5, 3.4, 3.3, 3.2, 3.1, 3.0, and several 2.9 and 2.8 releases down to 2.81. The render engines noted for it are Blender-Internal, Cycles, and Eevee. That range covers current 4.x versions as well as older projects still running on the 2.8 series.

How does Polylinker Addon match high-poly and low-poly objects?

Polylinker Addon uses proximity-based matching. It calculates the distance between the center points of objects to find the closest pairs, so objects do not need to be in exactly the same position, only close to each other within a certain distance. After you fill both the low poly and high poly lists and click Assign High/Low Poly Names, it renames the matched objects with your custom base name and adds _low and _high suffixes accordingly.

Can I use Polylinker Addon in commercial projects?

Polylinker Addon is listed as free here, and for current licensing you should check the developer's page. Its license permits commercial use as long as you do not resell the addon and do not claim it was made by you. If you try to rename an object that was deleted or renamed outside the addon, PolyLinker shows an error message so you can resolve the issue before renaming again.
