Frameflipper earns its place in the Superhive library as a focused quality-of-life add-on: it handles one animation-staging task, comparing two frames without keyframes, and covers Blender versions from 3.2 through 4.2.
Qol Tools: Frameflipper adds a control to the Blender timeline bar for flipping between any two frames you set. It works without affecting the animation and without needing keyframes. While staging animation, being able to flip between arbitrary frames and see the differences instantly, rather than scrubbing, is often useful, and that is the task this add-on handles.
Setting up a flip is straightforward. Scrub to any point on the timeline and click the A or B button to set your target frames, or type the A and B frame numbers directly. Hitting the FLIP button then flips between the two. Hotkeys are assigned by right-clicking a button and choosing Assign Hotkey.
Frameflipper is available in Blender 4.2 extension format and supports Blender versions from 3.2 through 4.2. It is released under the GPL license, ships with documentation, and is also included in the QOL Tools: Full Collection package. A demo video is available.
Qol Tools: Frameflipper is best for blender animators who want to flip between two arbitrary frames and compare them instantly while staging animation.
Qol Tools: Frameflipper is completely free to download and use.
Qol Tools: Frameflipper supports Blender versions 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2. It is also available in Blender 4.2 extension format and is listed as Blender Extension compatible. That range covers several Blender releases, so most current and recent installs are handled. If you run a version outside that list, check the developer's page to confirm compatibility before installing the add-on.
Frameflipper lets you assign a hotkey by right-clicking on the button and choosing Assign Hotkey, so you do not have to search for the command inside Blender's hotkey editor. The same buttons drive the workflow: you set your A and B target frames, then use the FLIP button, or your assigned hotkey, to flip between the two frames you picked on the timeline.
Frameflipper does not need keyframes and does not affect the animation. You flip between any two frames you set: scrub to a point on the timeline and click the A or B button, or type the A and B frame numbers directly, then press FLIP. This makes it possible to compare two arbitrary frames while staging animation without touching existing keyframes or scrubbing back and forth to spot the differences.
Qol Tools: Frameflipper is listed as free here and is released under the GPL license. It is also offered as part of the discounted QOL Tools: Full Collection package alongside other quality-of-life add-ons. Licensing and any bundle details can change, so check the developer's page for the current terms before you download. Documentation is included with the add-on to help you get started.
