QPasses earns its place in the Blender library for automating a repetitive setup task: configuring render passes and shader AOV outputs. Released under the GPL license, it has seen incremental updates that extended it into the compositor and added Chinese-language dictionaries.
QPasses is a Blender add-on focused on outputting render passes and shader AOVs. It sets up all shader AOV outputs and render passes with a single click.
The 0.1.5 update brought a function panel to the compositor. Working from that panel, QPasses can automatically delete created file output slots when passes are disabled after having been enabled, and it can delete single shader AOV passes individually while also removing the file output slots they created. Both automatic deletion behaviours apply only within the compositor panel.
The 0.1.8 update added an internationalization module with built-in Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese dictionaries. QPasses is released under the GPL license and lists support for Blender 4.2, 4.1, 4.0 and the 3.x series down to 3.0. Documentation is provided, and a demo video is available for a closer look at the add-on.
Qpasses is best for blender artists who regularly set up render passes and shader AOV outputs and want to configure them in one click, including work done through the compositor.
Qpasses is completely free to download and use.
QPasses lists support for Blender 4.2, 4.1, 4.0, and the 3.x series down to 3.0, covering 3.6, 3.5, 3.4, 3.3, 3.2, 3.1 and 3.0 as well. That range spans a good stretch of recent Blender releases, so if you are on a version within it, the add-on is intended to run. For any version outside that list, check the developer's page before installing to confirm current compatibility for your setup.
QPasses is listed as free here in our catalog, and its license is GPL. Licensing terms and any conditions can change over time, so for the most current details it is best to check the developer's page directly. The GPL license generally governs how the code can be used and redistributed. If you need certainty about the terms that apply to your project, confirm them with Mskins on the developer's page before you rely on them.
QPasses includes an internationalization (i18n) module, added in the 0.1.8 update, with built-in Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese dictionaries. That means the add-on ships with translations for those two Chinese variants alongside its default interface. If you work in a Simplified or Traditional Chinese Blender setup, those dictionaries are available with the add-on. For details on how the internationalization module behaves, the developer's page and the included documentation are the places to look.
QPasses added a function panel to the compositor in its 0.1.5 update. Within that compositor panel, it can automatically delete created file output slots when passes are disabled after having been enabled, and it can individually delete single shader AOV passes while also removing the file output slots they created. These automatic deletion features are noted as effective only in the compositor panel. For a closer look, a demo video is available and documentation is included.
