Quick Load covers Blender versions from 2.7x through 2.91, with node-related features added in the 2.80+ line. A demo video is available.
Quick Load is an addon for Blender built around trying many textures on a model quickly. It uses the open File Browser for its work, so you can see a preview of the picture and move freely around the disks while you select. Beyond textures, it supports loading objects and any other elements of the scene, and can be used to quickly load and change the brush or texture for the world.
Working with it follows a few steps: install the addon, then in the addon panel specify the name of the image you want to quickly change. Access to the panel is available in the relevant places. In the open File Browser, select a picture and click the ‘Load image from file browser’ button in the addon panel, or press Q on the keyboard.
Later versions for Blender 2.80+ add automatic creation of an Image texture node from the selected file, placement of the selected image in an empty node, and assignment of the selected texture to selected polygons. Version 1.4 adds putting an image to selected faces with Alt + Q and to a selected node with Shift + Q.
Quick Load (Addon For Blender 2.76+ And 2.80+) is best for blender users who need to try many textures on a model quickly and swap images for objects, brushes or the world.
Quick Load (Addon For Blender 2.76+ And 2.80+) is completely free to download and use.
Quick Load lists support for Blender 2.76+ and 2.80+, spanning versions including 2.7x, 2.77, 2.78, 2.79, 2.8, 2.81, 2.82, 2.83, 2.9 and 2.91. Some capabilities are limited to Blender 2.80 and later: automatic creation of an Image texture node from the selected file, placement of the selected image in an empty node, and assignment of the selected texture to selected polygons were added in version 1.3 for the 2.80+ line, with further node and face options in version 1.4.
Quick Load works through a few steps. First install the addon, then in the addon panel specify the name of the image you want to quickly change, with access to the panel available in the relevant places. Next, open the File Browser, select a picture, and either click the ‘Load image from file browser’ button in the addon panel or press Q on the keyboard. The File Browser shows a preview of the picture and lets you move freely around the disks while you choose.
Quick Load adds shortcuts in its later versions for Blender 2.80+. Version 1.4 introduces putting an image to selected faces with Alt + Q and putting an image to a selected node with Shift + Q. Version 1.3 added assignment of the selected texture to selected polygons in the mesh, automatic creation of an Image texture node from the selected file via a ‘Put image to nodes’ button in the file browser, and placement of the selected image in an empty node.
Quick Load is listed as free in this catalog, so no price is shown here. The addon is released under the GPL license, and it is published by Vladimir Spivak. For current licensing terms and any purchase or download details, check the developer's page linked from this listing. A demo video is also available if you want to see how Quick Load handles loading and changing textures through the File Browser before you decide.
