Why we like it

Quick Tools earns its spot in the superhive library by folding five separate workflows into one add-on. Worth knowing: its bundled AutoTex and Shake Cut are frozen for features, with ongoing development moved to their standalone versions.

What is Quick Tools?

Quick Tools brings together five focused workflows in a single Blender add-on, built to cut down repetitive work across materials, nodes, baking and object handling. AutoTex imports models, detects PBR textures, matches materials and builds shader nodes automatically. Node Tools organizes, inspects, mutes, colors and debugs node trees. Quick Bake bakes shader outputs to versioned PNG files, Shake Cut disconnects selected nodes with a Houdini-inspired shake gesture or the E shortcut, and Quick Modify opens up mesh and object operations without repeatedly switching modes.

AutoTex is designed for downloaded assets, game-ready models, scans and large texture libraries. It can batch import .fbx, .obj, .gltf, .glb, .abc and .usd files, and uses a flexible keyword library rather than exact filenames to identify texture types. When multiple resolutions or texture folders are found, it hands you a Resolution Manager or folder selection to pick the right version.

One thing to note: the bundled versions of AutoTex and Shake Cut no longer receive new feature updates inside Quick Tools. Future updates, improvements and new features come through the separate AutoTex Matcher and Shake Cut standalone add-ons.

Who is Quick Tools best for?

Quick Tools is best for blender artists working with downloaded assets, game-ready models, scans and large texture libraries who want to automate material setup and tidy up node trees.

How much does Quick Tools cost?

Quick Tools is completely free to download and use.

Key features

  • AutoTex batch imports .fbx, .obj, .gltf, .glb, .abc and .usd files, with a Model Only option for geometry or Auto-Assign to run texture assignment immediately.
  • A flexible keyword library identifies texture types such as albedo, roughness, metallic, normal, height, AO, alpha and emission without depending on exact filenames.
  • The Resolution Manager and folder selection let you choose between detected resolutions or texture folders, with a fallback that ranks matches by texture type, filename and resolution.
  • Automatic shader node building produces a clean Principled BSDF setup with Texture Coordinate and Mapping nodes, sRGB for color textures and Non-Color for data maps.
  • Node Tools includes a Smart Masonry Layout, a live HUD overlay showing node count and error detection, and flexible muting of nodes, frames or unconnected nodes.
  • Quick Bake exports shader outputs to versioned PNG files, while Shake Cut disconnects nodes with a Houdini-inspired shake gesture or the E shortcut.
  • The Integrated Material Manager assigns texture folders, clears existing node trees, applies random colors for organization and offers optional UDIM detection.

Frequently asked questions

What file formats can Quick Tools import through AutoTex?

Quick Tools imports models through its AutoTex workflow in .fbx, .obj, .gltf, .glb, .abc and .usd formats, and can batch several files in a single operation. You can choose Model Only to bring in geometry without textures, or use Auto-Assign to run the texture assignment system right after import. When it runs, AutoTex detects PBR maps, matches them to materials and builds shader nodes automatically, so imported downloaded assets, scans or game-ready models arrive with their materials already set up.

How does Quick Tools handle multiple texture resolutions?

Quick Tools handles multiple resolutions through AutoTex's Resolution Manager. When it finds several versions of a texture set, such as 2K and 4K, it opens the Resolution Manager so you can choose which version to use. If more than one valid texture folder is detected, you can select the correct folder before materials are created. When object, material or texture names are inconsistent, a fallback system analyzes the available files and ranks possible matches using texture type, filename and resolution information.

Do the bundled AutoTex and Shake Cut in Quick Tools still get updates?

Quick Tools ships with the current bundled versions of AutoTex and Shake Cut, but these two tools no longer receive new feature updates inside the bundle. To get future updates, improvements and new features, you would purchase AutoTex Matcher and Shake Cut as separate standalone add-ons. The rest of Quick Tools, namely Node Tools, Quick Bake and Quick Modify, remains part of the toolkit, so the bundle still covers node cleanup, baking and everyday object operations alongside the frozen versions.

Is Quick Tools free to download?

Quick Tools is listed as free here in our catalog. Licensing and pricing can change over time, so for the current terms it is best to check the developer's page on superhive before downloading. Keep in mind that the bundled AutoTex and Shake Cut are frozen for new features, and the standalone AutoTex Matcher and Shake Cut are separate purchases if you want their ongoing updates and improvements.
