Earns its place for turning Blender's edit history into a color-coded timeline you can scan and click through directly in the viewport.
Render Brick Road adds a visual, interactive timeline to Blender that tracks every edit you make. A horizontal bar sits at the bottom of the 3D viewport, showing each operation as a color-coded node — mesh operations as diamonds, transforms and modifiers as circles, with each category given its own color so you can scan your history at a glance.
Open the N-panel and switch to the Timeline tab for a scrollable list of every tracked step, complete with the operation name, the object it affected, and how long ago it happened. Click any point in the timeline to jump directly to that step, and the add-on handles the undo/redo chain for you.
You control what gets recorded through action filters for selection, transforms, mode changes, parenting, visibility, and snap & align, all reachable from the sidebar. Overlay height, node spacing, opacity, and step number visibility are adjustable in the add-on preferences. Render Brick Road requires Blender 4.2 or newer and is distributed under the GPL license.
Render Brick Road is best for blender users who want a visual record of their modeling operations and quick navigation through their undo/redo history right in the viewport.
Render Brick Road is completely free to download and use.
Render Brick Road requires Blender 4.2 or newer and is listed as compatible with versions 4.2 through 5.1. It installs as a Blender add-on and appears as a Timeline tab in the N-panel sidebar once enabled. If you're running an earlier release, you'll need to update Blender before the extension will load. For the most current compatibility details, check the developer's page, since supported versions can change as new Blender releases arrive.
Render Brick Road installs from a downloaded .zip file. In Blender, open Edit > Preferences > Get Extensions > Install from Disk, then select the .zip you downloaded. Once installed, the Timeline tab appears in your N-panel sidebar, where the detailed step list and action filters live. From there you can adjust overlay settings such as height, node spacing, opacity, and step number visibility through the add-on preferences.
Render Brick Road lets you toggle tracking on or off for several action categories directly from the sidebar. You can filter selection actions such as select all and box select, transforms like move, rotate and scale, mode changes between object, edit and sculpt, parenting, visibility changes such as hide and show, and snap & align operations. This keeps your timeline focused on the operations you choose. The filters are accessible from the sidebar rather than the preferences, so you can adjust what's tracked as you work.
Render Brick Road tracks every operation as a color-coded node along a horizontal timeline at the bottom of the 3D viewport. Mesh operations show as diamonds, while transforms and modifiers show as circles, each category in its own color. Clicking any point in the timeline jumps you directly to that step, and the add-on handles the undo/redo chain for you. The sidebar Timeline tab also lists each step with its operation name, the object it affected, and how long ago it happened.
Render Brick Road is listed as free in this catalog, and it's distributed under the GPL license. For current licensing terms and any pricing details, check the developer's page, since terms can change over time. The add-on tracks your modeling history as a visual timeline in the viewport and requires Blender 4.2 or newer to run. Because it's a GPL extension, the license covers how the code can be used and redistributed.
