RePrimitive earns its place in the Superhive library for a focused job: reopening a primitive's settings long after it was created, even when its rotation has been applied.
RePrimitive is a Blender addon by Damjan Andelkovic that lets you change the data of primitive objects at any point in time, rather than recreating them from scratch. It works regardless of an object's location or rotation, and continues to work even when those transforms have been applied. If the object had any modifiers that were not applied, they carry over.
The addon can be triggered by keybinds or by two buttons inside the RePrimitive panel located in the "N" menu. By default, CTRL+ALT+A opens the main operator for tweaking primitives and CTRL+ALT+R fixes rotation; keybinds can be disabled or changed in the preferences. The main operator opens a popup window where you can change all the details, and the panel can be shown or hidden.
A separate operator fixes applied rotation. For primitive shapes this can be done from Object mode or from Edit mode with nothing selected. For complex shapes such as a monkey head, fixing rotation from Object mode most likely will not work, so you go into Edit mode and select the face or faces you want on top.
Reprimitive is best for blender users who want to adjust primitive object data after creation instead of rebuilding shapes from scratch.
Reprimitive is completely free to download and use.
RePrimitive lists support for Blender 4.0, 3.6, 3.5, 3.4, 3.3, 3.2, 3.1 and 3.0, so it covers a broad range of the 3.x series through 4.0. If you are on one of these versions you should be able to install and enable the addon as described. For any newer release, check the developer's page or the GitHub repository to confirm current compatibility before relying on it in a project.
RePrimitive installs like a standard Blender addon. Download the ZIP from the "Code" green button on the GitHub repository rather than from Releases, since Releases is used by the addon updater. In Blender, open Edit then Preferences then Add-ons, click Install, locate the downloaded ZIP file and double-click it. Finally, enable the addon by ticking its checkbox. After that, the panel and keybinds become available and can be adjusted in the preferences.
RePrimitive uses CTRL+ALT+A by default to open the main operator for tweaking primitives, and CTRL+ALT+R to fix rotation. These keybinds can be disabled or changed in the addon preferences. If you would rather not use keybinds at all, there are two buttons inside the RePrimitive panel, located in the "N" menu on the right side, provided you have that panel enabled through the Show panel checkbox.
RePrimitive includes a fix applied rotation operator, but it was primarily built to let you change primitive object data at any point, not to fix rotations. For primitive shapes, run it from Object mode or from Edit mode with nothing selected. For complex shapes such as a monkey head, fixing rotation from Object mode most likely will not work; instead, go into Edit mode and select the face or faces you want to be on top.
