Res Switch earns a spot in the Superhive library for consolidating scene resolution controls into a dedicated panel across the Render tab and compositor.
Res Switch adds a ResSwitch Panel to Blender's Properties Render tab and to the Node Editor compositor, where scene resolution changing is needed. It is designed to improve user experience and give faster control when working with scene resolutions for rendering and compositing.
The panel shows the render resolution in the resolution's percent bar and displays aspect ratios of resolutions. A Maintain Aspect Ratio toggle keeps the ratio while changing resolution, and dedicated functions switch the scene's X and Y resolutions and apply resolution by percentage. Two 1-click buttons set the scene resolution to an active node or a selected image's resolution. A Custom Resolutions box lets you add and save resolutions as buttons that are kept saved in the Blender file; clicking a button changes the scene resolution, and an Edit mode lets you edit and reorder them.
Display settings let you toggle aspect ratio display for scene resolutions and resolution buttons, show resolution buttons in condensed dropdown or extended mode, and change the pixel tolerance used for calculating aspect ratios. The add-on is installed from its .zip file in Blender without unzipping.
Res Switch is best for blender 2.79 and 2.80 users who frequently change scene resolutions for rendering and compositing.
Res Switch is completely free to download and use.
Res Switch is built for Blender 2.79 and 2.80. It adds its ResSwitch Panel to the Properties Render tab and to the Node Editor compositor in those versions, wherever scene resolution changing is needed. Because it targets these specific releases, users on other Blender versions should check the developer's page before relying on it. The add-on is distributed under the GPL license, so review the current terms on the developer's page for the most up-to-date details.
Res Switch installs from its .zip file directly in Blender using Blender's add-on installer, and you should not unzip the file first. Once installed and enabled, the ResSwitch Panel appears in the Properties Render tab and in the Node Editor compositor, giving you access to its resolution controls. Any custom resolutions you save as buttons are kept saved within the Blender file itself, so they travel with the project rather than needing to be re-created.
Res Switch lets you add and save custom resolutions as buttons through its Custom Resolutions box, and those buttons are kept saved in the Blender file. Clicking a custom resolution button changes the scene resolution, and you can edit the added buttons by toggling Edit mode, as well as change their order. This means the resolutions you configure stay with the project file rather than being lost when you close and reopen Blender.
Res Switch is listed as free in this catalog. It is distributed under the GPL license according to its listing. Because licensing and pricing can change over time, check the developer's page for the current terms before downloading. There you can also find the documentation and a demo video that accompanies the add-on if you want more detail on its resolution-changing workflow before installing it in Blender.
