Section Pro earns its place in the Blender library for its focus on architectural and technical documentation: section planes that cut at any angle, one-click 2D drawings with hidden edge detection, and DXF/SVG export aimed at architects, interior designers, and engineers.
Section Pro is a Blender addon by Ruben Messerschmidt for cutting through 3D models with section planes. A plane can be positioned and rotated like any Blender object to cut at any angle, and it works with all object types, including collections, instances, and geometry nodes. Sections can affect specific objects, a collection, or the whole scene, and fills can be color coded per object, collection, or material so structural walls, partitions, and furniture read as distinct elements.
From any section, Section Pro generates a 2D edge mesh in one click, producing the cross-section outline, projected silhouette edges, and hidden edges on a separate layer. Each layer can be styled independently in Blender or in a downstream CAD or vector application. Drawings export to DXF for CAD tools and SVG for vector work or laser cutting, with export units set independently of the Blender scene.
Named views save and switch active sections, visible drawings, and viewport orientation, projection, and shading. Horizontal floor plan cuts at any height pair with Align View to Section for orthographic top-down mode, and customizable hotkeys and menus round out the workflow.
Section Pro - Floor Plans, Elevations & Technical Drawings is best for architects, interior designers, and engineers who use Blender for ArchViz, BIM, and technical documentation.
Section Pro - Floor Plans, Elevations & Technical Drawings is completely free to download and use.
Section Pro exports drawings to DXF for AutoCAD, FreeCAD, or any CAD application, and to SVG for Illustrator, Affinity, or laser cutting. Export units can be set independently of the Blender scene, so a drawing can carry the correct measurements regardless of the scene's unit setup. Each drawing is generated as a 2D edge mesh, so the cross-section outline, projected silhouette edges, and hidden edges arrive on separate layers, ready to style in Blender or in a downstream CAD or vector application.
Section Pro works with all types of objects, including collections, instances, and geometry nodes. Section planes position and rotate like any other Blender object, so you can cut through a model from any angle using one or multiple planes. You can also control what gets cut, letting sections affect only specific objects, a collection, or the entire scene, which means different sections can be applied to different parts of the same scene.
Section Pro can detect hidden edges in your 3D model and stores them on a separate layer, so they can be styled independently later or removed. A drawing setting can automatically remove hidden edges from the drawing. Alongside hidden edges, the generated edge mesh includes the cross-section outline and projected silhouette edges, each on its own layer. This layered structure carries through to DXF and SVG exports for further work in CAD or vector tools.
Section Pro creates floor plans through horizontal section cuts at any height. The Align View to Section command switches instantly to orthographic top-down mode, and fills can be color coded per object, collection, or material to keep the plan readable. Named views save and switch section and viewport configurations, storing which sections are active, which drawings are visible, and the viewport orientation, projection, and shading, so setups such as "Floor Plan" or "Section A-A" load with a single click.
Section Pro is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing and any purchase or upgrade terms can change, so check the developer's page for current details before downloading. On the practical side, the addon covers section cuts at any angle, color-coded fills, one-click 2D technical drawings, hidden edge detection, DXF and SVG export, named views, and floor plan cuts, giving a broad set of tools for technical documentation directly inside Blender.
