Set Random Plus earns its place in the superhive library by extending a familiar Blender utility with a second function, Edit Mode coverage, and automatic keyframe insertion when record is enabled.
Set Random Plus, by EnnJinn, improves Blender's default Set Random utility by offering two functions in Object Mode instead of one. Pressing "*" resets each selected object's transform to a random value within the range you specify, giving every object a unique result. Pressing "+" increments the value by a random amount within the range, adding to the object's existing transform, rotation, or scale.
The add-on also works in Edit Mode on vertices, edges, or faces. There, "*" applies a unique randomization to each selected element, while "+" moves all selected elements by the same random value within the range.
It adds a panel titled "Set Random" to the Tool Section, with separate X, Y, and Z controls and minimum and maximum value settings for each axis. You can randomize one attribute at a time using the row buttons, or all attributes at once with the large button. A unit conversion utility keeps values compatible with Blender's metric and imperial systems, and keyframes are inserted automatically when record is enabled and objects are adjusted in Object Mode.
Set Random Plus is best for blender artists who need to randomize transform, rotation, and scale across many objects, or across vertices, edges, and faces in Edit Mode.
Set Random Plus is completely free to download and use.
Set Random Plus gives two functions in Object Mode instead of the single one in Blender's default utility. Pressing "*" resets each selected object's transform to a random value within the range you set, so ten objects with an X range of 0-5 each receive a unique value. Pressing "+" increments the value by a random amount within the same range, adding to the object's existing transform. An object at X=20 with a 0-5 range would land somewhere between X=20 and X=25, and this holds for each transform range.
Set Random Plus works directly in Edit Mode, applying random transformations to the active selection of vertices, edges, or faces. The two functions behave differently there. Pressing "*" applies a unique randomization to each individual vertex, edge, or face, so ten selected faces with a Z range of 0-5 each move a different random amount. Pressing "+" applies the randomized value equally to every selected element, moving them all by the same random amount within the range.
Set Random Plus adds a panel titled "Set Random" to Blender's Tool Section for access to its features. It provides separate controls for the X, Y, and Z axes, and each transformation axis has its own minimum and maximum value settings to control the randomization range. You can apply randomization to a single attribute using the buttons on each row, or apply all rows simultaneously by clicking the large button at the bottom.
Set Random Plus respects Blender's unit settings through a conversion utility that converts values to meters, keeping them compatible with both metric and imperial systems. Conversion from metric to imperial is calculated so that a value of "1" corresponds to one inch. Each transformation axis carries its own minimum and maximum settings, so you can define the randomization range in the units your scene uses across transform, rotation, and scaling.
Set Random Plus is listed as free here in the catalog. For current licensing terms and any usage conditions, check the developer's page on superhive before downloading. The add-on covers randomization of transform, rotation, and scale in Object Mode, plus random transforms on vertices, edges, and faces in Edit Mode, and it adds a dedicated "Set Random" panel to the Tool Section.
