Why we like it

ShotPath earns its place in the superhive library by turning cinematic camera setup into a repeatable workflow — shot markers, smooth paths, preset rigs, and a cut sequencer sit in one N-panel, with an optional Master Camera bake for a clean final handoff.

What is Shotpath?

ShotPath is a Blender add-on from Algelab for laying out cinematic camera moves, sequencing shots, and keeping the camera workflow clean from blocking through final render. It gathers the camera workflow into a single N-panel, so building a move, sequencing the cuts, and staying in control happen in one place.

The add-on covers several rig types. Path rigs let you drop shot markers in the viewport and generate a smooth path through them, then reorder, nudge, and retime shots. Preset rigs ship Orbit, Dolly, Crane, and Slider setups with ready-made defaults. Free rigs create stationary or mountable cameras for handheld follows and object-based shots, and blend rigs let you blend between multiple camera rigs on a single slider.

A Cut Sequencer adds cuts on the timeline, reorders them, and syncs each rig's animation to its cut frame. When you want a clean handoff, ShotPath can optionally bake the full sequence to one sampled Master Camera for rendering, exports, or archiving, or you can keep working live with the rigs. Extra tools add handheld shake, aim at objects or empties, calibrate orientation, and convert an existing curve into a ShotPath rig.

Who is Shotpath best for?

Shotpath is best for previz artists blocking sequences, indie animators and short-film creators, motion designers building cinematic product or title shots, and game cinematic artists working with repeatable camera moves.

How much does Shotpath cost?

Shotpath is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Does ShotPath work with Blender 4.5 LTS and newer?

ShotPath requires Blender 4.4 or newer, so Blender 4.5 LTS is supported. Blender 5.1.0 and newer is the primary supported target, while Blender 4.4 is the minimum supported version, and anything older than Blender 4.4 is not supported. If you run one of the supported releases, the full camera workflow is available, from placing shot markers and building paths to sequencing cuts and baking a Master Camera. ShotPath also handles Slotted Actions from Blender 4.4 and newer transparently. Check the developer's page for the latest supported releases.

How does ShotPath handle Slotted Actions?

ShotPath handles Slotted Actions from Blender 4.4 and newer transparently, so you do not need extra setup to work with them. Since Blender 4.4 is the minimum supported version and Blender 5.1.0 and newer is the primary supported target, this handling applies across the releases ShotPath runs on. The add-on covers camera work from placing shot markers and building paths through animating the move, sequencing cuts, and optionally baking to a Master Camera. For questions about specific Blender builds and how Slotted Actions behave, the developer's page is the best reference.

Can I keep working after baking to a Master Camera in ShotPath?

ShotPath makes the Master Camera bake optional. You can bake the full sequence to one sampled camera when you want a clean final handoff for rendering, exports, or archiving, but you can also keep working live with the rigs instead. That means the bake is there for predictable output rather than a required step. ShotPath lets you build paths, sequence cuts, blend between rigs, and add handheld shake, then decide whether to bake or stay live. For more on the bake step, see the developer's page.

Does ShotPath let me sequence multiple shots on the timeline?

ShotPath includes a Cut Sequencer that lets you add cuts on the timeline, reorder them, and sync each rig's animation to its cut frame, which turns separate camera moves into a single sequence. Alongside it, ShotPath's path rigs let you drop shot markers, build a smooth path through them, and reorder, nudge, and retime shots without rebuilding the whole move. When the edit is ready, you can optionally bake the full sequence to one Master Camera. See the developer's page for a closer look at the sequencing workflow.

Is ShotPath free to download?

ShotPath is listed as free here in our catalog. Licensing terms can change over time, so check the developer's page for current pricing and license details before you download. The add-on is made by Algelab and offers a dedicated camera workflow inside a single Blender N-panel, covering path rigs, preset rigs like Orbit, Dolly, Crane, and Slider, blend rigs, a cut sequencer, and an optional Master Camera bake. Regardless of licensing, that feature set stays the same, so you can plan your camera blocking around it once you confirm the current terms.
