Slot Slider earns its place in the superhive library for keeping render-slot A/B comparison inside Blender's Image Editor, with a draggable divider that covers color, depth, normals, and custom passes.
Slot Slider brings A/B render comparison directly into Blender's Image Editor. It places a draggable slider divider between two render slots and updates in real time, so you can move the divider back and forth to inspect the difference between versions. The comparison is GPU-accelerated.
Beyond plain color, the add-on lets you inspect depth, normals, or any custom render pass, and it supports comparing composite and raw passes. Per-channel comparison isolates individual channels, and multi-View-Layer scenes are handled as well. It works with all of Blender's render engines, including Cycles, EEVEE, and Workbench, and covers Blender 4.5 LTS, 5.0, and 5.1 and later.
Once a comparison is set up, you can save it, and an option automatically increases the active slot after each render. Slot Slider is marked as a Blender extension, ships as an add-on, and is distributed under the GPL license.
Slot Slider is best for blender artists comparing A/B render versions and passes directly in the Image Editor.
Slot Slider is completely free to download and use.
Slot Slider supports Blender 4.5 LTS, 5.0, and 5.1 and later, and it's marked as Blender extension compatible. It runs as an add-on inside Blender's Image Editor, where it overlays a draggable slider divider between two render slots. If you're on the 4.5 LTS release or one of the newer 5.x builds, the add-on is built to cover that range. For the exact install steps and any version notes, check the developer's page.
Slot Slider works across all of Blender's render engines, including Cycles, EEVEE, and Workbench. Because the comparison happens on the render slots themselves inside the Image Editor, you can line up A/B versions regardless of which engine produced them. It's GPU-accelerated, and it also handles multi-View-Layer scenes, so composite and raw passes from different layers can be compared. That keeps it engine-agnostic when you're reviewing lighting, materials, or any output you've rendered.
Slot Slider lets you inspect color, depth, normals, or any custom render pass between two A/B versions. It supports comparing composite and raw passes, and it offers per-channel comparison so you can isolate individual channels. Multi-View-Layer scenes are supported as well. The comparison plays out in real time through the draggable slider divider in the Image Editor, and you can save the comparison once you've set it up.
Slot Slider is listed as free in this catalog, and it's distributed under the GPL license. Licensing and pricing can change over time, so it's worth checking the developer's page for the current terms before you download. It's marked as a Blender extension and ships as an add-on covering Blender 4.5 LTS through 5.1 and later. For the most up-to-date details on the license, refer to the developer's page.
