Snappy Rigger is an auto-rigging addon for Blender built by Stellart around SNAPPY, a one-click automatic body detection system, and BINDY, its own binding engine. The workflow detects the character, binds it, generates an advanced final rig, and exports the result, all in a few clicks. It is compatible with Linux and Windows and with Blender 5.0.0 and 5.1.0.
SNAPPY was unveiled in February 2025 and was originally an exclusive feature of Stellart's BlenQuick Auto-Rigger before being baked into this easier-to-use rigger, which keeps the main advanced core features. BINDY is described as a hybrid between Voxelized and Heat Maps binding. Snappy Rigger can also use Blender's built-in Automatic Weight as a binding engine, though it is slower and less accurate than BINDY, and Voxel Heat Diffuse Skinning can be used if installed.
Facial detection is included, with automatic facial markers placement and detection in 2D and 3D based on the user's minor selections and assignments. Rigs export in FBX and GLTF, formats compatible with Unity, Autodesk Maya, Unreal Engine, Godot, and other similar 3D programs. Updates are free.
Snappy Rigger is best for blender artists who want to detect, bind, rig and export a character to game engines in a few clicks.
Snappy Rigger is completely free to download and use.
Snappy Rigger is compatible with Blender 5.0.0 and 5.1.0. Version 1.2.1 fixed compatibility with Blender 5.1.0, and earlier versions addressed detection inaccuracies and compatibility on Blender 5.0.0. It runs on both Linux and Windows. For the current supported versions and any newer builds, check the developer's page, since the addon receives ongoing free updates and the changelog tracks each compatibility fix as it is released.
Snappy Rigger uses BINDY, Stellart's own binding engine described as a hybrid between Voxelized and Heat Maps. It can also fall back on Blender's built-in Automatic Weight, though Stellart notes this is slower and less accurate than BINDY. Voxel Heat Diffuse Skinning can be used as well, but it has to be installed separately, and Stellart states it is not affiliated with it. As of version 1.2.2, the earlier BlenQuick Auto-Rigger binding engine option was removed since BINDY is now built in.
Snappy Rigger exports rigs in FBX and GLTF formats. Stellart lists these as compatible with Unity, Autodesk Maya, Unreal Engine, Godot, and any other similar 3D program. Export in FBX and GLTF was added in version 1.2.0. The overall workflow lets you detect, bind, generate the final rig and export the result in a few clicks, aimed at moving characters out of Blender and into game engines and other 3D software.
Snappy Rigger includes facial detection alongside body detection. It provides automatic facial markers placement and can automatically detect faces in 2D and 3D based on the user's minor selections and assignments. Facial detection and rigging were introduced in version 1.1.0, with automatic facial detection added in 1.1.1. Stellart notes that a facial detection tutorial made for its BlenQuick Auto-Rigger applies here too, since Snappy Rigger is based on it and works the same way.
Snappy Rigger is listed as free in this catalog. Stellart also states that updates are free and always will be, and that you can consent to email notifications to be told when a new version is available. Customer service is available seven days a week, with questions usually answered within a few hours and confirmed bugs fixed within 24-36 hours.
