A focused, single-purpose add-on. Sprite Cloud earns its place in the superhive library for handling one job — keeping image planes pointed at the active camera — with a single marking button.
Sprite Cloud is a Blender add-on from Nikita Akimov that turns image planes into sprites — planes that always face the active camera. The workflow is straightforward: select the image planes you want, then press the "Mark selection as Sprites" button in the add-on panel. The selected planes become sprites and orient toward the currently active camera.
Because the orientation is tied to the active camera, sprites automatically reorient whenever you switch the active scene camera. The add-on's controls live in the 3D Viewport's N panel under the "SpCl" tab, keeping the marking action within reach while you work.
Sprite Cloud supports Blender 2.93, 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2, and installs like a standard add-on: download the .zip archive, then use the Preferences window's Add-ons section and the Install option to point Blender at the file. It's released under the GPL license, and a demo video is available.
Sprite Cloud is best for blender users who need image planes that stay oriented toward the active camera and reorient when the camera changes.
Sprite Cloud is completely free to download and use.
Sprite Cloud supports Blender 2.93, 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2. If you're running one of those versions, you can install the add-on and mark image planes as sprites within it. For newer or older Blender releases not listed here, check the developer's page to confirm whether they're covered before installing, since compatibility outside the stated versions isn't documented. The add-on itself is at version 1.0.1.
Sprite Cloud installs like a standard Blender add-on. First download the .zip archive containing the add-on. In Blender, open the Preferences window, go to the Add-ons section, choose Install, and point it at the downloaded archive. Once installed, the tool's panel appears in the 3D Viewport's N panel under the "SpCl" tab, where you can select image planes and mark them as sprites.
Sprite Cloud places its controls in the 3D Viewport's N panel, under a tab labelled "SpCl". To create sprites, select the image planes you want and press the "Mark selection as Sprites" button in that panel. The chosen planes then face the currently active camera, and they reorient automatically whenever you change the active scene camera. This keeps the marking action in the viewport where you're working.
Sprite Cloud is listed as free here, though licensing and availability can change over time. For the current terms, it's best to check the developer's page directly rather than relying on a fixed price. The add-on is released under the GPL license. A demo video is also available for anyone who wants to look at it before deciding whether it fits their workflow.
